Spare hardware , make it of use (F@H) !!

Yeah man, sounds like a good thing. Hit me up when you know what's the dealio with your boards.

Require a Nvidia GPU for main rig, as i no longer have my mate's 5870 which he needed back so i'm using iMac now. I have a Gigabyte E350N-USB3 mini-itx motherboard that i can trade if wanted, could be used to make a nice little f@h rig. Its brand new and un-used.

Edit: Found an old Asus x800, now i can now get back to folding on CPU

Anyone got a spare PCI-E gpu, doesn't matter which one it is, ati or nvidia anything will do as long as it outputs display fine, just to get a rig i've been building up and running so i can fold on CPU for now and see what numbers i can get

Hey guys,

Recently bought a folding rig, but it came with a Nvidia quadro 290, just wondering if anyone has a good Nvidia gpu, which I can use to fold on. Looking for a 560 or better if possible. Im willing to trade my quadro which is in folding rig, and a 5870 which is a old card I no longer need. I also have a variety of other items I do not need, which I can trade for a gpu

EDIT: Just realised that PSU in XW6600 rig does not have 6 pin power connectors. If anyone has a spare PSU they don't mind letting me use (Needs to be 750W+) it will be much appreciated

I have a Acer Z68 skt1155 mobo,
i hope to trade it for a F@H GPU, if someone has one ?!

If i can't trade it , i hope someone can use it for F@H....
free of course!

I am going to buy another "Sabertooth" for my 15-2500K...

Mobo is taken,
but i think this week (waiting for my ordered GTX570) my GTX295 gets free,

only there is one of the chips that makes the card hardlock,
i can run F@H sometimes on it but most oif the time it locksUp,

maybe someone can still use it ?!

Happy Folding..!

Mate i seriously hope to get it (GTX570) this week ,
but a nice headsUp there is a way to let it Fold at 2 cores

Start the first core up and wait untill it settles ,
then start up core 2 and we (you) are fine :)

Just a little howto untill i send it to you ^_^
Ads a nice (non overclocked) 7500PPD a core , so 15000PPD !! (Y)...

Are you sure the PSU doesn't have one 6 pin power connector? My XW6400 had one, and I opened up the power supply and soldered in a couple of extra molex connectors to use a twin molex to 6 pin converter, so I could power the 460GTX.

The PSU in my XW6400 is about 575w but its decent quality (and I think the XW6600 comes with a slightly higher rated one). I had both quads running FAH, the 460GTX overclocked and folding and a 9800GT folding for days, rock solid.

If you can make use of the PSU in there I would because its quiet and very good.

It does have one six pin. Thinking to get a 660ti now, so i've bought a new PSU for it incase the normal HP one can't support a 660ti. But been having some issues with it. Would the standard 650W in the XW6600 be enough for the 2 xeons + 660ti folding?

The standard PSU will take it easily. My two quads are 65nm unlike yours which are 45nm, so even though yours have a slight speed increase (2.66 vs 2.33ghz) they will probably draw less power.

And like I said, the PSU in mine is rated just under 600w and it was happy folding away with both quads, a 460gtx and a 9800GT.

The only problem I had with mine was the lack of exta wires/molex connectors. I assume yours is similar, unless HP were a little more friendly with the PSU in your machine.

Also, FWIW, my main rig is a i7 2600k @ 4.4 - 4.6 with two 560 Ti. The whole lot folding away on a Corsair 650w PSU.

Thats good to know :)

Hmm, will use this PSU if i can get it working in the Xw6600. If not i'll need to see if it will happily power a 660ti.

Hey guys, old post i know, just some advice please. There is one of these going cheap on ebay, and was looking to pick it up to make it my DVD making rig ;) just wondered if the bios allowed any overclocking of the Xeons? Thanks in advance

I have probably come too late to this, but no. The bios doesn't give any overclocking options.

It is possible to overclock the FSB using setFSB.

The motherboard is a bit sparse in terms of options and expansion but these things run quiet and rock solid. I cannot recommend these enough if they fit your purpose.
