he probs means things like save game data on some games..they have a nasty habit of "protecting" data on some games by stopping you copying it...amybe its save games/user accoutn stuff he cant back up?

this ones a tricky one.......hmm heres a question that ill probably get flamed for..but have you checked to see if you pc is set to the "boot from network" option in the bios
if it is, it might explain your slow boot times and windows sayign it needs them..
OR
at any time have you used those wireless cards to set up a network and forgot to free up the ports again? (some cards/routers make you manually change the ports back to unused, otherwise windows thinks the cards still there)
i did this with a bellkin router and it did pretty much the same thign when i tried to uninstall it
