Socket 754 OC'ing Questions

Well, today i got a call from a mate of mine, and it basically went like this:

Friend : hey, you want a DFI LanParty UT nF3 250GB Mobo

Me: Yeah sure, how much?

Friend : delivery is £4, so lets say a fiver.

Me : Deal.

so as of Tursday, i will be the proud owner of a £1 DFI mobo. Well, ive decided to go and buy some cheapo DDR-400 ram and an ATI 9800 card (to be oc'ed and flashed with a different coller.) and stole the old 120 + 40 Gb IDE drives from the socket A rig in my loft. Ive decide to have a serious go at OC'ing this bugger, and mabey have a go at the relitavely low records around.

But know, ive got some thoughts, what CPU to go for? im thinking of a Semperon 3000 or 3100, but have no idea what the could clock to..

so basically, im wondering whether or not Semperons Coldbug, whats the highest clock / stepping, and how high does the Vcore and fsb go on the mobo?

cheers people.

Barry.

This is what I did with my DFI LP NF3-250

That was back in the day with a 3400+ CG Clawhammer and Mach II GT.

The semprons clock really well and with a DFI and using the divider I would expect 340+ MHz FSB.

I would go for the 3100+ as you get a 9 multi which would add total overclock. The semprons take a lot of licking and keep on ticking :D

EDIT: A 3000+ A64 would do nicely too if you can get one second hand

The venice cored CPUs do do well but as anything its luck of the draw. I did have a 3000+ that did 2.6GHz on air cooling but my 3400+ only did 2.4GHz on air (2.9GHz under MachII). What cooling will you be using?
