UPDATE: current status of desk:
Original post:
right, i decided, since i keep all my pics ordered anyway to do a anthology of my desk through the ages over the last few years, from my first own computer, through to now
hope you enjoy the read
first computer ever, cant remember all the specs, but it was somthing like:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
socket 754
jetway motherboard of some sort
512mb of ram
Geforce FX5500
200 Gb HDD (IDE)
all wrapped up with standard cooling, generic dvd drive, in a generic beige case
i dont think i have a picture of that
if i do ill upload it later
i 'modded' this with a few tweeks as you can see here:
neway, first pc i built:
basically the same spec as above, but i rebuilt it into an ebuyer el cheapo tacky case, with a gig of ram instead of 512mb
then, i built my own first proper rig from scratch
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (not dual core, i didnt trust dual core)
2GB OCZ Platinum 2-2-2-5 DDR400
200Gb HDD
ATi Radeon X850 (before they were bought by AMD)
DFI Lanparty Nforce 4 ultra d
Hiper Type R 580W psu (which lasted up until a couple of weeks ago when it blew, and i replaced it with some tagan 800W thing)
Thermaltake Tsunami dream (awful case, but at the time it was good)
that lasted me a good while
the laptop spec was summet daft like celeron M 1.4 GHz, with 256mb of ram, i upgraded it to a penium M 1.6 and 1gb of ram, with a 40 gig hard drive, it used to get so hot, and i think i made the battery life like 15 minutes from an hour
then i built this:
Intel Celeron ...somthing, socket 775
MSI 975x platinum power up edition
Nvidia 7900GX2 (internal SLI)
a 40 Gb WD Raptor
a 500 Gb Hitachi deskstar (still got)
FSP 700W psu
and 512mb of ram
all wrapped up nicely in a lian li pc-75bk, lovely case, it was huuuuuuge! over a meter tall
then it needed an upgrade, so i replaced the celeron with an E6600 C2D
i replaced the 512mb with 2 GB G.Skill ...DDR2-800
and crammed it with lights
it had a scythe...somthing...cooler on it
that was an immense computer from what i had come from ...but i dunno, i didnt like intel, and i felt i was betraying AMD (im so gonna get e-slapped for that)
so i dismantled it and sold it, but kept some bits...bought a laptop to keep me going for a bit, and then went a bit pikey with my comp setups ...
laptop, acer somthing or other, gig of ram, core 2 duo mobile...wasnt bad, but wernt owt special either
then i decided building wasnt for me anymore, so i bought this:
that was an AM2 system, 3800+, but i honestly cant remember the rest of the specs....
after a while, i managed to break it...i have a way with hardware
so i replaced it with ...as i said, pikey, ....this:
can you tell i ran out of money?
but i loved that system, 512mb of ram, and a athlon xp 2600+, it was brilliant, it was even quick under xp MCE
then i got back into building
thats an asus case of some sort, and i think i had an asus motherboard, and 2 gig of ram, it was another intel system though
an E6300 system, overclocked to 3.6GHz from summet daft like 1.8 on air, thermalright XP-120
i do remember that system had a brand new XFX 8600 in it, damn that was an nice card, black and green...ooft
:
anyway, eventually burnt the chip out, i was running it at 1.6 Vcore to get that speed, but the temps were like 80C
ah well, one less intel for the planet, shame that ...cough...
then i got a AMD system again, a 939 system with an opteron 146, clocked from 1.8 to 2.5 i think, with 2gb DDR, and ...i cant honestly remember the rest of the spec lol
little chalange for some of you, name all these chips
back on with the history...
two pics i dont remember taking, of rigs i dont remember owning, but they were definatly mine...they were in my room:
oh, and i built myself a Hifi and gaming room around this time too:
but that only lasted about a year...before it got dismantled, and my pc room doubled up as that too
then we come to my current rig:
specs in my sig
some more old hardware i had lying about:
yes i had a lot of old hardware, i used to just attract the stuff lol
anyway, my pc room, just before i moved house:
and now after ive moved:
rig details in sig
i just changed the case for a lian li ...but same as the one above with the window
hope you all liked that really long read with many, many bad quality photo's
