Skyrim Modding.

OK so it's a mistake to mention Skyrim to me in conversation and rightly so, I lived in that game for much too long and triumphed to become master of all of Tamriel. Then Mods came and made it all better.... much better! It is fair to say I modded the hell out of this game and started all over again, low and behold Bethesda come through 5 years later and remaster the original with a whole new 64Bit engine! Over the last few months modders have been busy working their little fingers to the bone porting their most popular mods across to the special edition to breath new life into a new game. Well you know what that means, yup it just has to be started all over again in glorious HD with a multitude of bigger modifications to make the journey more amazing.. So just what has changed and is it going to be worth the time and effort to restart such and epic game.

I have decided to take a closer look at the vanilla game and compare it side by side with a freshly modded Special edition.

Mods used are as follows.
SMIM (Static Mesh Improvement Mod)
Unofficial Skyrim SE Patch
Lanterns of Skyrim
Flora Overhaul
W.A.T.E.R (rivers, waterfalls, puddles)
Birds & Flocks
Immersive Citizens
Immersive Patrols
Verdant Grass Plug In

All mods are available via Nexus Mods.

So what do you guys think? are you already modding the remaster? Will you be revisiting the game? Hit the comments below I would love to hear your thoughts.

I'm tempted to re-visit this sometime, since I got the SE for free. Not sure about mods though, those caused me nothing but headaches.

I'll be updating the OP with my mods, so people will know they work together. They are so easy to install with nexus mod manager, it'll be even easier once steam add the workshop.

I'm really in love with Skyrim as well and played a fair bit on a modded playthrough (mostly ENB and other graphical updates). I have yet to try the SE version but will sure as hell get to it very soon!

NMM is terrible. I'll never use that again. My brother even after a full system OS fresh install still has issues from NMM.
Do it manually fellas. Always better that way.

This does look beautiful, shame that the SE itself is meh and not much better

NMM is fine. The biggest issues people have with it is they don't read any information that comes with the Mods. 99.99% of the issues people have with NMM are down to user error or using Mods that are unrated and are test Mods.

NMM is a great repository for a lot of Mods, never had an issue with it and I have used it for a considerable length of time on multiple systems.

That isn't the issue when a full reinstall and it's still effecting the system even when not downloaded/installed. So not user error. It would be impossible. In addition I even upgraded to W10 for him and still had issues. So much so that his original Skyrim game is broken. No matter how many times you redownload, check file integrity, fresh install, etc, it's simply just broken. He's using the SE no NMM and it's working. He uses the in game mod thingy(I haven't looked at it) and it's working. So yes, NMM is trash. I've had trouble with it for W3 as well(even doing it manually and not the client thing), I instead go to moddb and I have had nothing but glorious fun.

The only thing NMM has done ok for me was one tiny mod for SoaSE. Even then I found it on moddb. Switched and never looked back.

I'm not sure if there is going to be a steam workshop for Skyrim SE, i think Bethesda wants to control it this time i haven't heard anything different yet & Gopher (the guy who makes iHUD) hasn't said anything about it.

I agree with this but i wouldn't say 99.9% tho so of the mods on the Nexus a lot of people don't put much effort into explaining that the mod is and don't get me started on some of those thumbnails they use can anybody say clickbait.

But sometimes with my NMM where it will completely delete all of my mods that have happen a couple of times now and one was lately with Skyrim SE too.
