it will work hard wired in but not on wireless ? does anyone know why this is please

Possible that the Wireless is disabled, scout around on the router to find the setting (I can't remember off the top of my head where it is) and see if it is disabled or enabled.

Alternatively, try resetting the router by using the reset switch on the back.

To log onto the router:

Username: admin

Password: sky / admin / password

I had a lot of problems with my wireless a couple of weeks back. Reset it, use the WEP key provided on the router settings (security tab) and try entering that for your WEP. Make sure you apply changes before you try to connect wirelessly with it.

hi m8

tryed that and it still only works hard wired ! i now thinking that sky have it that its got to see a ip from the router so you got to get one from them , never had this with ntl ,,still i might go back to ntl now virgin .

thanks

What have you got your wireless card set up as in the OS (i.e. static or dynamic ip).

Does it work with no encryption? Turning encryption off for a couple of minutes shouldn't hurt...

Some routers only accept certain MAC addresses via wireless, might be an idea to see if that is disabled.

best thing to do is to reset the router. (back to factory settings). You can also have issues if if broadcasting on the same channel as another wireless router nearby. So try it on another channel.

Reset it

pop in your login details

under wireless settings on the left hand nav menu, change your SSID to start, then make sure riegon is europe, change the channel to anything other than 1 or 11 and set the encryption to WEP for the timebeing rather than WPA-PSK

then jump on your PC, remove and disable any wireless software youre using (this is assuming XP), Start > Run > services.msc > find DHCP client service and set to auto and started > find Wireless Zero Point Configuration service and set to auto and started

Services in Vista are named similarly but the wireles service i think is just called Wireless something or other, will be down the very bottom.

Make sure your wireless card has proper driver support in device manager and youre good to go.
