Its overclocked in the bios to 2.9ghz. I have an E6300 C2Duo in a gigabyte ds3 motherboard. My system settings are telling me its 2.9ghz still but my gadgets are telling me its 1.4ghz. Its going seriously slow too...amazingly slow...

SOMEONE HELP ME!!!! if anything ...ring me!!! ill give you my number..lmfao. I know its software based too cos its done it before and i had to reformat. I just cant be

Vista does it...

And you may have some speed stepping or ThermalThrotlling enable in the

bios.

Nothing to worry about mate. :)

Its all turned off. everything. god knows why its doing it. might just reformat when iv get everything in the case. this is annoying and a reformat only takes about.....25 min...

any suggestions then please say......i dont particularly want to reformat but hey...if its got to be done then its got to be done...

Cheers guys

Depends on ur mobo, but the C1E is generally in a CPU menu within the bios.

Has some other throttling options around it too.

These things are designed to automagically under clock ur cpu during periods of low use - of course they`re just a fresh bunch of things for an overclocker to turn off :p

Big big shot in the dark.

But goto vista`s control panel and check the power settings (usually applicable to laptops) and see if anything relevent is in there. It`s got options for power saving and performance.

EDIT: make sure ur pc is on High Performance, and go through the advanced settings, and u`ll see references to hard drive shutdown, monitor shutdown, sleeping - and I`m sure there`s a min/max cpu setting. Just make sure they`re both 100% - I`m sure High Performance will = 100% for both anyway. But if u were previously on Power Saving, that could`ve been the issue.

PARDON THE LANGUAGE!!! BUT YOU F*U*C*K*I*N*G legend...can i come and find you to kiss you. rofl. makes sense too...changed the settings earlier...I KNEW IT WAS SOFTWARE!!!

CHEERS BUD!!!!

Give yourself a pat on the back for me...please...

Mad isn`t it. I think every Vista install I`ve done on pcs and laptops has automagically set itself to power-saving.

I sit in the room and would hear a harddrive or 2 spinning down. - this making me think I`ve got a drive problem coming. Lo and behold they are set to powersave after like 20 mins or something as default. >.<

its annoying though..i was restarting and it was staying like it...stupid bloody thing...i cant believe they have this feature on it...someone with common sense should bring out a patch for it to stop it doing it...or they should somewhere make some info about it. at least. but hey...at least now everyone has this thread they can read. Or most people have common sense and stick to XP. ROFLCOPTER!!

cheers once again bud...

@Rast - had that problem with the HDD too - bloody Vista was shutting my storage drives down after 20mins! WTeF! Don't MS know that spinning up a HDD from idle reduces it's lifespan?

I like Vista but that took the p1ss

That was happening on my laptop and my uncle's

Really is crappy especially seeing it pretty much locks ur pc up for 20 seconds while it spins back up :|
