I think the backlash was primarily from people just expecting them to resolve
things, which they didn't. IIRC the tag line of S1 (and S2? not sure) was "Who
killed Rosie Larson?", so people just expected that to actually be answered by
the end of season 1 I think. Many seem to have gotten pissed when it wasn't,
so they stopped watching.

Personally I don't really mind either way so long as the series is actually good.

the series is about finding out who killed rosie, of course it's not gonna be resolved after season 1.

I think most people expected one case per season from what I read. They do
actually have a new case for S3 I think (very minor spoiler ;)).

I've actually just started watching this again. I've seen it over 4 years ago in its entirity while the 4th season was airing.

Still good the 2nd time around, a few days later I've the mini-series and the 1st season watched.

I'm more of Sci-Fi fan so I'll throw the following into the mix, which would be the ones I've watched over the last few years, just in case they haven't been mentioned.
*Caprica (Prequel to Battlestar Galactica)
*Farscape
*Babylon 5
*Stargate (SG-1, Atlantis, & Universe)
*Sliders

I've watched BSG about 4 times :) It's my favourite series besides LOST.

I was looking forward to Blood and Chrome which would of been about the first Cylon war but it got cancelled before it even started.
Ronald D Moore has a new sci-fi series coming out next year called Helix, hopefully it's as good as BSG was.

Blood and Chrome is still a go. It will be a web series and direct to blu-ray. This page says Feb 10th (Feb 19th for the Blu-ray).

It makes me sad that I somehow just can't get immersed to any SciFi. I'm missing out on lots of brilliant content.

Anyway, check out Iron Sky or Star Wreck. Latter is "freeware", so to speak.
 
Only 1 season so far, but my and the misses loved ''True Detective''... The 8 episodes were honestly some of the best scrippting, acting and general TV I've ever seen in my life... IMDB also rates it a 9.4 which doesn't happen often :)
 
Three good show I am watching/have watched lately are.

Hannibal
Bates Motel
True Detective

All really good shows, Bates Motel is a bit slow and not so good to begin with but it soon pics up.


EDIT: Also Arrow.

Thanks for reminding me, i have to watch s2 of Hannibal.
I finished House of Cards not too long ago and it was a blast.
