SATA drive for me

performance wise I think it goes summit like this

Raptor > New Deskstar (with the High density platters) / T7K range / > Maxtor DM 10 (16 MB cache) > Maxtor DM10 (8 MB cache) > maxline II > Segate BarracudaWD caviar > Old Deskstar /7k range/ > DM9 (any) and i wouldnt go any less than those

yeah the 16mb cache maxtor ones look quite tempting, i also ned to buy a SATA drive in the near future.

gotta reformat then kemp :( damn i hates that

I hate reformatting but what I'm gonna do is keep windows on the Maxtor IDE drive and set it as a slave. Then if it all goes Pete Tong I can boot back up on it.

At least all my files are installed on my HDD in "backup" - I have all of the setup files for almost everything I use (cept SPII) might make an unnatended windows install :)
