Ohh yes!... I assume from your article WYP that an 980Ti doesn't support DP 1.3 and therefore won't be fully compatible with this monitor?...

Yeah, DP 1.3 will be on next gen stuff. AMD has confirmed that they will have it, but Nvidia have never really been behind with this kind of stuff. I assume pascal will have it.

DP 1.3 will even allow 4K at 120Hz.

Or 5k at 60hz
That's not for HDR content though. It's lower than SDR

nVidia didnt even want to adopt 1.2a. Would seem a bit bonkers if they didnt adopt 1.3 and then just lock out adaptive-sync

WYP - Any indication as to Freesync or GSync? I'd guess not at this stage or they'd have made mention of it already.

Yeah hope so at least for Freesync as it's part of the DP standard I think.

Just wondering if the panels need to have that optioned specifically to take advantage of it or whether they'd just natively work at whatever frame rate the GPU was outputting.

It seems rather unlikely that it wouldnt support freesync though.

There is no confirmation yet, but Samsung has been a big backer of FreeSync, with a lot of their recent monitors supporting it.

G-Sync is very unlikely on this specific panel, but you can be sure that G-Sync 144Hz 3440x1440 monitors are coming if Nvidia adopt DP 1.3 on their new GPUs.

Its really an optional addition to the monitors. Just doesnt incur a licencing fee like nVidia

Well they are kinda forced to update it if they want to support 4k at 120hz or 5k content. Otherwise sure it'll be awesome for 4k 60hz with no HDR content(which is a big thing this year)
