Samsung expects 512GB SSDs to cost the same as a 1TB HDD in 2020

A little hicup here
"With SSD consuming less power, producing less noise and offering more reliability than SSDs "

By the time 1TB SSD's get down in price I'll be to old and slow to care :(

Fixed.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see what HDD makers will do moving forward. Western Digital has already purchased Sandisk, so I guess that is their plan.

it will be along time b4 HDD's are not needed, you will need 1-2 TB SSD's to be down below the £100 and by then you could be seeing 4TB HDD's at the same price. The way games are going up in size it will not be long before a 1TB isn't enough for game storage

Aye, it will be a long time before HDDs die out. Even if what Samsung says is true HDDs will still offer 2x the capacity of a similarly priced SSD in 2020.

SSDs falling in price.

I have a Samsung Evo 120 in an old AMD set up with an external USB 3 2TB HDD. In my latest set up which is Intel Skylake based, I have 2 x Samsung 950 Pro NVMe M.2 512Gb plus an external 2TB HDD which I use for back up only. I have all that I need, and no, I won't be tempted to buy the Samsung 960 Pro ! SSD's have been getting cheaper for a long time now and as for NVMe M.2 well the price did drop, I picked up one on Amazon for £240 six months ago but it would seem that they have now risen to £280-£290.
