Same pcb?? 780´s

I have currently got 2 old 780´s, one is with a XSPC waterblock (reference 780) and the other is a 780 hydrocopper.

I all ready had the first 780 with the XSPC waterblock and then I literally got given the second one Hydrocopper from a friend that had sold his rig.

The thing is that in my secondary computer I would like to go 780 SLI all water cooled but then I need to change the block on one of them. Now, is the hydrocopper just a refrence 780 or not?

If so then I could pick up a XSPC waterblock cheap.

Any help?

but cooling config is for Ek blocks or?

Yes but it would tell you whether they are both the same PCB. If the same EK block fits the hydro copper and the reference (which I highly doubt) you could be confident that the same would apply for other manufacturers.

- EDIT

Hang on isn't the Hydro Copper already water blocked? Hence the hydro..? Or you're really after identical matching blocks for the visuals?

I just had a look and they're different PCB's (Assuming it's the Classified Hydro Copper and the Reference 780) but the universal blocks will fit both. You'd have to look at your Ram/mosfet cooling though.

It would be much easier if OP could give us the details of the card I.E the model.

Agreed. The Hydro Copper should already have a block on it so not too sure why they need to change them. Maybe it's faulty. Maybe it's aesthetics.

I think the OP hints that it's because of aesthetics rather than any physical reason.

Having just done a search (screw you EVGA for not keeping your legacy products on your website) I found a regular Hydrocopper.

And a 780 Classified Hydrocopper.

Now I would strongly imagine that the regular HC is just a normal stock 780. However, if you look closely you can see that there is EVGA on the PCB near the PCIE connector, not Nvidia. So the only way you could find out if it's stock is to take off the cooler then download a nice big detailed picture of the stock 780 naked and compare the two.

The 780 HC Classified is 100% not going to be a stock PCB. It has far bigger power phases and so on, hence the Classified moniker.

Nice find. Yep they're definitely different to the classified so depends on the model number. From memory on the EK configurator site they only had the one hydrocopper listed (Classy) so doubt there's a specific block for the non-classy hydro unless, as you suggest, the standard hydro uses the same pcb as the stock.

OP will either need to tell us the model numbers or go to EK and submit a compatibility inquiry.
