Really noob question...

Wow guys, this is a really noob question but...do I need to use washers when installing my mobo? I ask because most guides online don't use them, on my first build I used them..

If I do need to use them the arrangement is as so:

standoff>washer>mobo>washer>screw into standoff

So basically one washer ontop of standoff, mobo sits on standoff + washer and screw with washer below head goes into mobo + standoff. Right?

Sorry for the newbness! Haven't removed a mobo for about a year and I want everything to work smoothly with my new project :D

You won't be requiring any washers mate. Most new cases provide stand-off's and screws for motherboard installation and all motherboard traces are kept well away from screw holes.

Meh.

The whole mobo will get any required earthing via the point the i/o section touches the mobo tray in anycase.

I use washers mainly just out of habit and silly protection of screw vS entry point.

They aint necessary, but is a personal choice. UV ones would be kewl :p

I Use em all the time its become like a habit (& Since i had a dodgy MSI Board i put insulation tape on the underside)

Oddly enough i didn't use them when i replaced my mobo.
