Razer - Project Fiona

The intriguing device looks basically like a handheld tablet with two Nunchuk-like controllers strapped to either side of it.

It's essentially a PC, capable of running "most" PC games 'without any special tweaks or modifications', according to Engadget.

The machine will pack a zippy Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor, and will run a custom user interface via an app for a Windows 8 operating system at its core, with a focus on instantly connecting players in multiplayer games with Xbox Live-like ease.

Although optimization for the device won't be necessary, the firm says it would be optional for developers who want to take advantage of specific control schemes and set ups for the device.

The firm hopes to have it released in the later half of this year for under $1000.

Great concept but do you think anyone would actually buy one?

Did we not stick to PC gaming to stick with the keyboard and mouse ? I would kill my self before having to touch a controller of any sort !

It's a cool idea, but when it comes to execution I think it still needs to be worked on a little more. The design of Project Fiona is a bit kludgy with the side controllers. It's nice to see that it is able to run the game fairly well. I believe that they said it will come in under $1000. I won't be buying one because they already have the Switchblade project.

What's wrong with using a controller? Analog sticks are way better in racing games. Or a fight pad, i think they're called, are better for games like tekken-style games etc.

I might get one since i regularily travel to germany to visit family.

In defence of it, the specs aren't too bad and you can use a mouse and keyboard with it if you wish. I'm not sure if you will be able to do other things on the OS like web browsing etc but I assume you can, seen as pretty much everything these days has to be able to.

ideas good but its not something that i would buy for playing games on the move, id rather stick to a handheld like the new PS VITA and buy a few decent games for it for much less. The design is not great, too large, battery life must be not good also, it looks to fiddly to use.

Great idea but not something i would buy, not even at half price

It's a decent idea but I doubt it'll work well up against it's current competitors.

First impression on the visuals are quite... ugly, IMHO. I'd rather get a PS Vita over this.

It just looks too awkward to use a portable device, but I would very much like to see it in person.

If they'd called it project Megan, I think it would have looked a lot sexier.

Still not doing it for me, although I like the fact your hands don't touch the screen (I was playing around with one of the Sony Tablets [S2 I think] playing Crash Bandicoot and I had to use the screen as the controller, which was awkward).

Sad thing is, the controllers, the docking station, and the keyboard are all separate and will cost you an additional 600-800$. Sorry razer, I am not spending 2000$ on this when I could just build a gaming desktop <_<

Yup it is crazy. It is a full OS, so I'm intrigued to see how well it plays games. There's no other tablet capable of that at the moment.

Gotta wait and see how well it plays the latest games and if the controllers arnt ''weird'' to use.

Probably won't be worth the price but for people with money to spare...
