Radeon HD 7970 / 7950 Crossfire

I got a XFX Radeon HD 7950 DD right after they got released and i am now thinking about getting either a 7950 more or a 7970 so my question is can you run a 7970 and a 7950 in Crossfire will the 7970 underclock and lose some cores and speed or will they work with the right cores and speed?

And also the XFX DD is loud as hell can anyone recommend a better card either 7950 or 7970 thats makes less noise

I'd go with a sapphire. Excellent performance and quiet.

Yes the gpus will match their performance, so the more powerful card will simply not perform as fast as it could do (that's different to actually underclocking itself which would decrease it's maximum performance).

I haven't heard great things about the 7xxx in crossfire yet. Major driver issues last I checked which is actually decreasing performance/causing crashes but that will improve.

If i were you i would wait until Nvidia starts to launch their line up. The amd prizes will then fall, and you can then pick up one more cheaper. If the card is loud id get a aftermarked cooler like this Arctic cooling

Or you could get it watercooled, but that will be a more expencive solution. Or you could sell it while the prizes are high.
