Proxy box?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some kind of proxy server in a box that can restrict certain websites and perform content filtering at certain times of day.

I know I could easily set an old PC up as one with a linux distro, but I don't have the space for it.

i have a iso of eproxy (i think) on my laptop. haev a google for it. i think it's an iso just for transparent proxy server.

I'll post more info later.

Can't you use something like netnanny that you can manually disable with a password?

Nah i don't want anything actually on the PC. I'd be interested if there are any DSL routers that have full proxy functionality

if you want a cheap way of doing it. look into openwrt. Find a cheap router of ebay. flash it with openwrt and then you can do pretty much what ever you want.

Here's a thread describing the transparent proxy. You could of course put these on a old pc, but i think buying a router and shoving openwrt sounds more exciting.

I mean a router like this should do the job nicely. But check up first.

Some newish routers have a usb port, wiht openwrt you can but a usb hard drive into and use it as a shared drive :)
