Project Switch Blade

I want it even more than I did before
biggrin.gif

Looks awesome S_I_N but i'm deducting points for the DVD drive
tongue.gif

just temporary for now will be taking it out when I get an external and making it back into a hotswap bay.

I think the front bays do look good like that
biggrin.gif
. Otherwise I think that the front would be too white.

I agree totally it breaks it up very well.

I didn't realise how much bigger than the HAF it was - its a monster. Lookin' Good.
cool.gif

yeah shes big and weight wise about the same as the HAF932

now to squash NZXT's claim of 90mm of room in the top well they be close but off by 4mm the top of the non removable portion of the optical bays to the inside of the roof is 86mm just enough room for a 60mm rad and 25mm fans but the top of the opti bays is solid so about 1/3rd of the fan would be obscured. For now I have 2 fans on it in push which is plenty for my oc. I'm contemplating a 420mm rad up there and will move the fans to pull with 3 140mms above the roof under the louvered section. I also intend on a 280mm rad in the floor. This is why I'm thinking 420mm in roof XSPC doesnt make anything for 140mm fans (well not 280 or 420) So I'd have a XSPC logo on top and Phobya on bottom lol so if I make them all 140mm fan rads then I'll have matching logo's lol. Plus I need new fans as my sickle flows leds are not all the same intensity lol. As I'm getting some Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans (when they decide to send them) from the contest I won. I figured I'd get more of those and complete the look

Thank You all for the comments I'm sure lovin it so far

You sure that you cannot remove this top section?
unsure.gif

That make me sad:(

So I will have to cut this section somehow...

What can I use to cut it?

you can remove the sides to the upper top section via screws the rest of the optical bay you will have to drill out the rivets. Sorry if i made it sound like it was stamped with the case.

notice in this pic I removed the side panel which allows you to slip in the rad. Also take note of the remaining room between the rad and top of optical bays. thats 26mm of room enough to squeeze in a 25mm thick fan. Or in my case put in 90° barbs so I can put the barbs to the front and have less tubing clutter.

P1010004-2.jpg

and here it is back installed. Giving a cleaner look if you ask me
smile.gif

now funny thing about this case is it comes with a stealth optical drive cover. But its only usable on the top slot look at above pic and you will notice the tool less tab is back further than the other 2 slots. This is so it will engage the opti drive mounted further back. These are not re-positionable so using the stealth cover is only on top. Which if you mount anything larger than a dual rad wont allow it to be used for optical use. But for my build it will allow my fan controller to slide in perfectly.

Hey S_I_N the build looks like it is coming along fantastically! As for the 90 degree clearance I am curious as to how you measured the 86mm (Not trying to cause doubt), in the photography build I did I had the 65mm thick Watercool HTF4 and a standard push 25mm fan.

Also would you be interested in having us share your build on our Facebook page?

well mate i used a ruler
smile.gif
I'll do a re-measure to be triple sure though. but its not really an issue for me as I have the room I need
smile.gif
60mm rad with the 90's and no fan at that spot will make it roomy enough for tubing to route thru it.

No I dont mind sharing it:) with facebook guess I'll need to take some better pics for ya
smile.gif

edit: well I stand corrected and see what happened mate lol there is a little ledge around the outside edge of the case my ruller landed on that. I just re-measured from a different angle and saw the edge coming off that edge to the rad mount area is exactly 90mm
smile.gif
blush.gif
I was trying to keep my ruler straight up and down is why I hit that edge lol

edit btw she should be finished within 2 weeks damn tax refund was delayed a week. plus by then I would expect my Mayhm's shipment with the pastel fluid

ok so heres the skinnee on my plans lol seeing as Bitfenix cant get me my fans and I cant justify 17$ per fan until I have tested at least one, and the NZXT fans are very decent I have them running at 12v now and no way are they anywhere close to 25db. so I am scrapping my plans to use Spectre Pro Blue Led fans on rads and case. All fans 12 of them to be exact. Will be NZXT 140mm 4 on 280mm rad 5 on the 420mm rad (yes 5 one spot will not be push/pull) need the room to run tubing and 90's above the optical bay. The pics will show ya why when I get there. I'm going with the 140mm versions of the Phobya rads. a dual and triple. Changing my CPU block to the raystorm and getting the EK block for my non ref 570HD. To light it all up I plan on using NZXT's 2m Blue led sleeved lights. And the fluid will be Mayhem's Blue Berry Pastel darkened to a deeper blue with his deep blue dye. Oh and of course the raystorm will have dual blue leds in it as well. of course all the fans will be on a fan controller even though they are quiet 12 of them wont be lol plus push/pull I doubt I'll need 12volts to keep everything frosty using 140mm rads. Fittings will be from Enzotech they look nice are rotaries and are all available from one source. Plus at 8$ each vs 16$ each for Bitspower I think they'll do perfectly.

any thought on my plans??? I still have about 3 days before I order my parts

Mate can you post picture of, how much clearance you have between mount for 120mm at the bottom and PSU?Thanks!

Also I heard that Bitfenix spectre are very good fans, and they looks awersome, but the are not good for rads. I dont know to much about the NZXT ones but I think that if you want NZXT one you should go for this ones

http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop...Fan-With-Fan-Control--FX-140LB-pid-13915.html

they should be better for rad, also this fans are the same one that NZXT use for their Switch 810 on CES2012.

NZXT lights are nice, but the only thing that pissing me of is length of molex cable, its way to short!

these are the ones I'm looking at. Are they the best for rads I doubt it but in keeping with the theme and such best i could find plus at 11$ ea they fit in budget better. Plus with them in push/pull I think they'll perform decent enough.

Now for the pic ya wanted lol I'm not sure if I understand exactly what ya want so heres a couple shots from the front (modular side) of my 160mm psu there is 85mm of space before the 140mm fan holes and 105mm before the 120mm fan holes or space from inside back of case to 140mm fans is 245mm and 265 to 120mm fans holes

P1010012-2.jpg

the psu sits about 15mm from the floor of the case. But no 120mm fan mount there but I bet ya can put one its grilled

love the look man, im currently working on 2 white and black computer cases as well. keep up the great work.

Hoping to have it all here by friday at the latest and with luck building sometime that evening when my lil devils errr I mean angels are asleep.
