[Project Log] Red Black Redemption

Yes, you're really putting effort into this project even though you probably won't be using it! :D

I feel loved!

haha you're so right. It's probably just gonna sit on my wardrobe for a couple of months unless I find a decent job and decide to build an APU system. Or if someone is interested in it I'll just let it go for the material cost atleast (locally so don't expect to see it on the FS&W section haha)

One more thing; don't forget dust filters! Can buy them and if they are too expensive or if you just want to go all ghetto on this thing; make them out of pantyhose

Well, guess what, tomorrow I have absolutely nothing to do except train legs and with the little extra time (pun intended) left, I'll try to figure something out on how to make ghetto dust filters (mostly for the bottom) and if I'm not happy with the results I'll just buy a couple off ebay.

Thanks btw because I was running out of ideas on how to kill time :)

As I am so busy right now (a lot of pun inteded) I decided to update you guys on what I did yesterday and today :)

Update!! 06/06/2013

First things first is to figure out a way to do a ghetto dust filter for the bottom 120mm. These are the materials I used + a couple of rubber bands.

So I put the pantyhose sock on the fans and put 3 rubber bands around it to hold it in place.

Cut the top part using a blade and scissors.

and then put some black electrical tape around it for the pantyhose to stay in place ( it started to slide out from under the rubber bands) and to hide the rubber bands.

And installed it in place. p.s I just screwed trough the pantyhose,

Then I installed an old unbraded psu I had laying around, I'm dying to sleeve it but it would take too much time and effort and it will never be used in a real system anyway. So, I just hid the cables the best I could.

I tried to install the front and side panels, I just placed them to see how it looks (no screws) and POWA! as the side panels have to slide a bit, the plexi hits the back rail thing and couldn't be installed with the plexi still on, so I removed ir and now it's installed as far forward as it can be without the edges showing.

this is how it looks with the side panels installed (the plexi is resting on the motherboard tray)

Today I also got myself 2 x 50cm red led strips on ebay. Probably next update will be when the pci covers and leds arrive and then the last one when the reset switch and the final assembly will take place.

Thanks for watching
maniac out.

+1 for ghetto dustfiler ;)

That window actually looks pretty good with the vents below it. Almost as if it was meant to be that way!

Looking very. . . Red?
Looks nice dude :)

I know what you mean, it just looks a whole bunch of red. Honestly I thought it would look a bit better. I might get a black steel mesh and install it on the plexi on the optical bay plexi so it would create a bit of contrast. And maybe a custom sticker on the side panel....who knows :)

Black or white racing stripes, like you see on those Mustang/Shelby GT cars!

Ok guys so I had some random car decal laying around and it hit me, looks already a bit better if you ask me :)

I was inspired by a decal I saw once on Overhaulin'. It was a muscle car and it had that type of sticker on the trunk.

And this is what I plan to do with the front panel. Behold my photoshop skills!

I like it mate! Proper paintjob!
Now get back to work, because I want MOAR!!!

I tried to satisfy your request, but after a 15 minute walk to the ironmonger I found out he was closed so I'll have to go back tomorrow. Although it is a public holiday, it still opens usually.

Classic Hemi Cuda trunk stripe! How can it not look awesome!

Exactly what i thought! :)

Well there isn't a lot to update anyway, For a decent update I'm still waiting for the reset switch, pci slot brackets and the leds, so stay tuned for that.
