Project: H2Orange

Davido: plasti-dip I presume? Nice job! There's another guy around here who's done that (Snef), and he does amazing work. Not too active on this forum though, if memory serves.

Id have made the masking MUCH tidier if I was you. Brave but deffo needed a bit more prep to make it worth the risk IMHO

That looked like a pretty damn risky mod! I didn't even think this would have been possible until I saw this.

Yeah, i saw it previously on a build ages ago, i thought id give it a go!

aaah nice :D it might have been his build i saw

the masking tape wasnt an issue at all, no spray went where i didnt want it to go. i did have issues getting it off though, with it being plastidip it peeled off a little around the tape, but its a non issue as the blocks/gpu's cover the areas that have peeled.

you see very little of the mobo when everything is installed, and the parts that you do see will be white :D

I don't think this is a good idea spraying a motherboard.

If you get problems I don't think RMA is an option.

if you still have warranties left when your modding, your doing something wrong ;)

everytime i mod anything like this, i make sure that i have the cash to buy another one if it all goes wrong.

The only real downside to this is the possibility that it will make things run a little warmer, but ive not sprayed anything that gets warm (from my experience with my old one of these same boards) and with the addition of the waterblock, i think it should be fine. if not, it can go in the skip :D

I have seen people do some crazy things then wonder why they have problems with RMAs.

Good luck to the OP as he has taken the view that if it does not work it will be going in the bin, I wish him well and hope all goes well.

I know fella, i just had a giggle when i read it ;)

Looking good! Not a fan of the color scheme, personally, but I am intrigued by what will come of this. Lucky bastard getting free stuff! ;D Keep at it, mate.

[/EDIT] My rig is quite dated and I am looking to upgrade but disposable income = $(not enough). Hope to see great stuff from you. Even though it affects me in an insubstantial manner, thanks coolermiester for helping someone else do something amazing. :)

Well, i logged onto facebook today, received a message from a friend saying "gigabyte have been sharing your motherboard post btw"

WHAT?!??!??!!!

looked, and GIGABYTE and GIGABYTE USA have both shared my build log from one of the forums i posted it at!!! from there, its got 70+ more shares from other websites/companies/people! inculding MAXIMUM PC

Im really humbled to see something ive done somewhere so popular, so thanks for that guys!!!!

Right, lets get down to some modding!

So, not only did Coolermeister sort me out with a load of XSPC gear, but he also sorted me out with something else!

it meant cutting my case up a little bit, but i think in the end it will be worth it, bear in mind this ISNT FINISHED!!!!

Also, the battery on my phone was dying (yup still using my phone to take the photos =( ) so some of them went a little funny! i will hunt out one of my other cameras soon, i promise!

So....

The front panel, in all its white goodness.

VOInXynl.jpg

soooo... i need to put something in the top 2 bays... the "something" doesnt fit yet.

lets make it! Time to grab my trusty dremel and cut off some little bits....

aPWSLJul.jpg

hmmm.... still doesnt fit =(

CGvmM6ol.jpg

Ok... Lets get the file out.

Thats better! snug like a bug in a rug!

GKVV6eJl.jpg

Have you guessed what it is yet??!

Thats right, its a Nice 6.2" touch screen (dont worry, the scratches are on the plastic, not the screen)

hjtDYuCl.jpg

At the moment, im just holding it in with some glue from my glue gun, its holding well, but il be making a backing plate to hold it in place better at some point

l3AF1Ptl.jpg

so, does it even work?

Yup! wooohooo!!

o6gAVuvl.jpg

I just need to sort the edging out (which shouldnt be a problem, i have a few ideas for that!)

so... another step closer!!!

Oh, and i know its not central (this is done on purpose, the right hand side (as you look at it) has a wider bezzle than the left, so if i centred the actual screen, the image on it wouldn't be correct.

i will be making it look better later :)

Looking even more awesome fella. I've had my rig shared on Gigabyte UK it's a humbling thing indeed.

This is a very quick update!

first of all, A massive thanks to https://www.bellystockings.com
GatN4td.png
for sending me a LOAD of material!

as most of you guessed correctly, i will be making some nice fan filters with them.

As im now running out of time in getting this build into a usuable state though, i am just going to have to use tape to get it in place, i have a way better idea, so this WILL be updated in the near future.

so, first, here is how much they sent (around 2.5M x 2.5M :o!!!)

pSdUcjFl.jpg

Its actually a really good material, its stretchy, easy to work with (if you make a little mistake whilst cutting, you can just stretch it a little bit more to get the desired shape ;)
and im hoping it will do an awesome job at keeping the unwanted dust out of the case.

also, its cheap!!!! (from their website, its around £9 per meter, which is plenty do do most cases!

Ive been informed that they do do some finer material as well, so if you want to make sure that absolutly no dust gets through theres always that option!

so, this is what the material looks like when its behind, its REALLY hard to get a photo, but it does look quite vibrant, once i have the lights in the case, and everything is in place i think they will look rather good!

ive also been doing some spray painting!

one of the radiators are done, is pretty much done (il probably give it another bit of a sanding down and 1 last coat)

2JfIQRrl.jpg

ive primed the pump and pump top ready for a coating

lfzeJ7ul.jpg

and ive sprayed all the fans

Before (a nice mix match of gentle typhoon fans and 1 Enermax cluster, id already done the cluster to see what it would look like

and.... ORANGE!

FnWpVgHl.jpg

ive only actually got 1 week until i need to take this build to i51. 4 out of the 7 days il be working away, so i have 3 days to finish it pretty much. So appologies that this update is a little rushed, and not with great photos!

IM SCARED!!!

Right, to start off with, most of the stuff ive done will be gettinga nother sanding down and another coating of paint when i get more time, ive now got 1 day off work to get this system into some kind of workable starte
and i havnt even tested it properly yet. I have done a fair bit over the last couple of days, but i havnt been taking many pictures really, i WILL be re doing it as i say though, and then i will have my DSLR back :D

Firstly a big thanks to

pYKmW8F.jpg

They have cut some acrylic for me in super fast time! and as always, their work is outstanding!

1N4p2nzl.jpg

they are relitivly simple cuts, but it took a fair few hours work from me, which has been a life saver.

This will eventually let me mount my pumps and reservoirs like this :

4XH3tyHl.jpg

I also sprayed 2 gpu blocks white, because 2 look really nice....

btkY66Pl.jpg

then i sprayed another one because 3 are awesome :D

ive also taken apart an old fan filter and put my material there instead!

7ozS911l.jpg

(excuse the wet patches, id just cleaned out the radiator again)

Ive still got a hell of a lot to do, but i think i might just have to bang it together on wednesday now so that i can take it to LAN thursday, either that or carry on building when i get to lan haha

Id also like to thank Garry (confused) for helping me last week with this, he helped me out quite a lot!!! (and bought me some stuff to use!!)

If you dont know what mayhems coolant is now, then you all need a good slap! over the last few years, they have taken the watercooling market by storm making better and better products each time!

Still don't like the white motherboard, it looks messy to me :L But I like everything else you've done! Boy you must really like flushing your loop :P

I am with wassupdoc, I like all of your work except the motherboard, it is just personal opinion but I think painted pcb's always look tacky.

It's not just painted PCBs, they can look epic - for me it's the way that EVERYTHING is painted over, it would have looked better (IMO) if you didn't paint the top of the chips on the board

It is the chips that annoys me now I think about it if it was the board and nothing else that was white it would look good
