Nice job!
I'm on an advisory committee for the local community college for the computer related degrees. At the last meeting I brought up that I hate how our industry is throw away. If something stops working we chuck it out and replace it, most of the time not even knowing what went wrong with it. I said we should be fixing things we can fix. This is a perfect example of what I was talking about. Basic soldering skills and electronics troubleshooting would be an awesome class IMO.
They looked at me like I was stupid. A few even laughed under their breath. One instructor said, "Sure, I can see students trying to solder chips on laptops. That'd be fun. /roll eyes" For one you'd use a hot air workstation for that, not an iron. For two, it's amazing how close-minded people in the tech industry can be.
We only have a few meetings a year, but I'll definitely bring it up again. Next time I'll bring some specific examples. Might need to borrow AlienALX's post. I think it's important and worth teaching. I did tell them to youtube Louis Rossman as homework.
Telling dumb people to just Youtube a specific person unfortunately won't help, as they either don't, won't or will understand, or all of the mentioned. You need to actually treat like they are a child, as in show them exactly what you mean on a kindergarden level for them to understand and once they do understand, you'll have won.
This is what I've needed to do for extremely basic things in my line of work as a security guard.
Perfect example on top of my head, worked at one of the most prestious schools in my country, you basically need straight A's to get in. The highest score is 20, lowest is 19.7 and you need to be in between to pass and get accepted.
So basically top students. That's atleast what you'd think. Yet, the students were so dumb that they were literally smoking right under a smoke detector. And they wondered why I came running when the fire alarm went off and why the fire department came along as well...

Does make you laugh at the hypocrisy though doesn't it? Kids ranting on about how we've destroyed "their" planet whilst simultaneously throwing everything in the bin and actually getting off on some weird fetish about peeling yet more plastic from these disposable items.
Der8auer made a fantastic point about it a month or so ago. TBH? I'd never even thought about it like that but he is spot on.
Imagine how much wildlife dies just so that some weird little pillocks get to spend 30 seconds peeling it off?
It's why I cannot take most people serious when it comes to environmental topics as more often than not these people are utter hypocrites "you're evil for owning that item or doing that action" while at the same time buying the latest trendy item every year and doing anything else social media tells them to.
The psychological point of it is if they can point fingers and scream at other people then the attention is no longer on them, Virtue signalling is nothing more than a diversion tactic.
Just blind capitalism and brainwashed people sadly.
This whole "ASMR" BS being spouted now makes it even more weird. And the term "satisfying" being hurled around.
It's just all horse crap designed to sell more and more to dumb people. Like yesterday. The human hedgehog (Jayzabellend) puts up a video saying it was SATISFYING. Eh? What planet you on mate? Satisfying is stuffing down a steak. Satisfying is taking a huge crap. It is, and never will be, satisfying to watch some bellend build a PC in silence. Never was and never will be.
But every one is chucking that word around now. Like this fake restoration videos. Mmmm, satisfying. What? To sit and watch some one butchering something for ad revenue? How in the Jeff is it satisfying to sit on your dumb ass watching someone make money from your dumb satisfaction?
Christ if people are that easily satisfied these days we're screwed. Why actually do any actual work when you can sit and watch some one else?

£20 for all that ? That's a bargain !
