hi,

I am trying to overclock the above cpu a bit nothing massive but a small OC but no matter how muchi increase the fsb even 10Mhz the MB says over clocking failed. its a M4N82 Deluxe.

To help you,we need a fair amount of info in bios.

every thing was on auto except these:

Multi: 10

FSB: 250Mhz

Voltage 1.26v

HT: 1800Mhz

memory was at its normal times and default speeds

I would try up the multi to 12

Give some nudges at volts.

A small oc to 3ghz shouldnt give troubles.

I can see you oc`ed a 1090t,same proces.

its a locked multi and yea the 109T was easy though few v and 20 multi bam but this one doesn't seem to OC at all not even very slightly and i nudged the volts up to the max the cpu can take but i cant even get a 200Mhz OC.

all i can think of, is that by trying to OC the 8400 before, you have FUBAR'd the chip. possibly killing the extra core you tried to unlock. and, if you killed the core, there is no telling what else has happened to it

its strange ive never tried to OC this chip before and i havnt done anything silly as to ruin the chip but i dont care about OC anymoe i left it at stock but when my bro plays games randomly after a while into a game the screen will freeze and he will have to restart the pc.

so i prime 95 it and the first core gets a errors at different times not at the same place each time. so i increased the voltage a little and turned CnQ off and tried it lasted longer but still one core failed.

i dunno what is up.

Now the pc turns on but nothing coems up on the display and the gpu works as i have tried it on another pc.

Whats going on?

cleared cmos held power button when unplugged turns on now left everything at auto and going to stress test again if it chashes now i dunno WTF is wrong.

Na fixed as the ram was set to 1066Mhz as per the specs but the phenom 8400 only has a 533Mhz memoery controller and 1066Mhz is twice that so it couldn't cope might have been why i couldn't OC the cpu

sorry i thought the cpu could handle 1066Mhz ram

oh well all stable now cba to try oc the cpu now bros pc he cant w8 for somethings load lol

i just checked on the amd site and the 8400 does support 1066Mhz ram i wonder why it is not stable at that speed on mine?
