Just remembered many years ago after I first got married in 2000 my wife mum bought us a laptop. It was for the wife really, her mum hated me. We got a great deal on a Toshiba. Got it home and all was good until I hooked up the Ethernet cable. I could not get the card to turn on. Of course I did all I should have. I took it back to Best Buy. I had a hell of a time getting a sales person to understand the issue. He finally called a guy from the Geek Squad and he told the guy to have us bring it up to the tech repair counter. Took him a while to understand, IT DOES NOT TURN ON, THE NETWORK CARD. Of course I'm told I did something wrong and he went on and on. I very calmly told him to hook it up and try it, if he is incapable of doing that, get the store manager. He came back with a female, her badge said, Assistant Manager. I had to explain the problem a third time. She started to say something and I interrupted and told her, "Hook it up, try it, it will not work, it is that simple." She turns to the tech guy and asks, "Can we do that?" The Geek Squad dude, "Uh, yeah." They hooked it up, messed with it 20 minutes and could not get it to work. BTW, a couple other "experts" from the Geek Squad had come around too making suggestions. My wife was getting pissed, by then I was shaking my head and smiling. It got to be funny. Other people waiting are shaking their heads. Finally the manager girl said, "OKAY, STOP, it is obviously not working!" She says to me, "What do you want to do?" I told her I wanted one that worked and not that computer. Ends up they were out of them, they'd sold out due to the great deal. Best they could do was upgrade me one level and it had to come from their Benton Harbor store in Michigan. They'd have it in the morning. I lived in Michigan, this Best Buy was across the border into the state of Indiana, closer than Benton Harbor. I got there the next morning, the people didn't have a clue about a laptop coming from another store, they had to call around. They got me the computer 2 hours late.
I'm good at going on-line or for calling corporate to complain. I called the 800 number. I'm also good at building up how bad it made me feel. Told them the long boring story and how unhappy I was and my being a computer expert I felt insulted being questioned multiple times and basically told I was an idiot without them actually saying it. Then after I was proven to be right, nobody apologized for all the time I wasted there. Then the next day them knowing nothing about the replacement and my waiting (actually I left, got breakfast and came back) just piled on to the insult. I got an apology, a $50.00 gift card and a free 3 year service warranty. Never had to use the warranty.

Last place I'd want to take it is to that Geek Squad.
Just remembered...I had already connected via wireless and registered the first laptop before I found the Ethernet problem the night we got it home. About 2 weeks later I got an e-mail reporting the Toshiba had a faulty network card and it had been replaced, fully tested and returned to the Best Buy in Mishawaka, IN and would be there at the repair desk for me to pick it up. They gave me a case number to use, I was to print out the order and use it to pick it up. Just for a moment I thought of going to see if I could pick it up.

Damn, I'm too honest! I called and told them I already had a new laptop from them as a replacement, that one was not needed.
