It's funny to look back and think about how many time MS has tried to do this... Who remembers MS vs. Netscape? LAWL! "You can't have an integrated web browser you

Yer, but not every company would disregard the law to achieve it

Biggest problem I have with that is that u`r then stuck with the evolution of that market the way that that company dictates. And if their biggest consideration is their pockets, " {QUOTE=many of the above} as all good companies...." the advances are made on the behest of "how much money will it make us?". As u may appreciate, I don`t think the market of personal computer technology has moved as fast as it should have over the last 15-20 years.

.. EDIT: and I`m still of the opinion that big-holes are being dug. Not soley by the release on request of larger and larger power requirements.

I agree with Kemp. Although I might have used it a few times, MS doesn't do anything differently than other large corporations. What is a company's ultimate goal? To please the customer? Gues again. It's to make the money, and that's what MS does. They are a good company that changed the tech industry greatly.

???? Is there another company called Microsoft ?

What'$ the matter? Micro$oft is greedy, you can't ignore the fact$. ("Wh@t'$ th3 m@tt3r? M1cr0$0ft 1s gr33dy, y0u c@n't 1gn0r3 th3 f@ct$...")

I say it not just becasue i hate M$ but for other reasons.

1 its easier to type than Microshaft (lawlz)

2 Its funny in its own sense

3 Its freakin true. I mean they ARE the richest company out there with Mr Billy Gates right on top.

So true. If it wasnt for M$ we probably wouldnt be stuck in this hole my dad likes to call software lag. If i remember correctly i mentioned how hardware is always way ahead of software yet most of the blame can be put on your very own Windows. They are to busy lining their pockets up with cash from still selling Windows ME for 200 bucks that they cant even put out something decent. Maybe instead of calling something immature you should look aside to why some people actualy dont like the company. (Im not talking about the ones who just hate it cause they make Windows either. People with REAL opinions as to why they suck ass.)

I have to blatently honest, I could give a flying freak who the No.1 OS worldwide is, as long as the progress is there to be seen - very obviously.

I haven`t seen it in probably 10+ years. Many of the "advances" coming out in the recent decade have always been there via a 3rd party. Re-jig the package, correct some issues, take out some stuff people liked, and re-sell it - then put the stuff people liked back in begrudgingly afterwards.

But my point is not whether Microsoft are a bad company or whether they "take over the world", just that someone putting M$ makes them look petty and their opinions seem less valid due to that

That is my rant, and I'll rant if I want to :p

For me its a matter of saving time cause its all done with one hand motion. Yea i might not like them but i know i have to deal with them. Thats not my reason for putting M$ so exactly how does that make me look petty?

meh, it`s how people read things m8y.

For example, I read/play/beta mmos and one thing that immediately halts me from taking any1 seriously about any subject is if they`ve typed "carebears" at any point. Even if I`ve got a memory of them typing it before.

Call it irrational, but it maywell be the same thing.

If you want to put an end to it, you could always add a str_replace to the forum php code somewhere like the smiley parser and replace m$ with microsoft etc  (like the swear thing).

Well I picked it up off over people, not wanting to be left out :p as it seemed the way things were done "around here" lol. I do think maybe it is slightly relevant in the fact that they ARE the biggest company in the world (and the richest), but they don't have any real competition IMO. Sure theres mac and linux etc. but which of them really competes with microsoft windows in terms of usability, compatability and reliability (maybe not the latter lawl!)

If it wasent for Microsoft 90% of us wouldnt be using comps. There probably wouldnt be the Nvidia, ATI, OCZ and the rest of the enthusiast market we take for granted.

I for one believe in "the strongest will survive" thought. There is NO WAY I could create a OS like Windows so I create where I CAN compete (MODDING!)

Honestly I have used Windows for free for a while (win64 trials) But $100 for Windows is probably one of the best deals in the universe. It allows those of us not willing/able to do the Linux thing.

I agree with Kempez on his thought M$ makes us look petty.
