And that's the crux. In the eyes of our society he's not doing anything wrong and is simply taking full advantage of capitalism.

It's not something I would do. Not that I've ever not asked for anything (don't ask don't get) so yeah, certainly nothing wrong in what he's doing.

People won't like it but you can't please them all.

As I said before (being dead philosophical and everything) the higher you climb the further you have to fall. The PC market is still in recession (especially in countries like Taiwan where it really matters) so we could still see a crash like we saw in the 80s. If that happens he will be screwed.

I hope he has a back up plan, though if he really is earning what it sounds like he is he may not need one, providing he uses his brains.
 
I remember a while back when TTL and Linus did a video together. I thought that was good and wondered why they didn't do more of them. Although i realize their schedules must be busy. Seems like TTL kept on with the tech info, getting more and more deep. I don't know about Linus. His vids. are not as interesting as before. I could be me, though.

I could be wrong, but I believe Linus is on the West coast. If I am correct, that is about 3k miles and at least 3 or 4 time zones from the east coast

There is one more diabolical possibility. If he spun Super Fun outside the Linus Media Group, he could potentially funnel money back into to Patrion to that account and get a tax write off for a charitable donation. Suckering other people into giving him more money is just a perk for him.

Wow that's dirty but i'm not shock if he does that, I'm guessing that Taxes are kinda the same in America & Canada then.

How can people trust someone like that, I will say i did at one point he must have a lot of Sheep/Zombies who will support him no matter what.
 
to be totally honest its shoddy buisness if he needs patrion then he must be losing money hand over fist.

another youtuber DSP started a patrion last year because a bunch of trolls basicly cost him $1000s by getting his vids pulled and basicly hating on him he is a 1 man operation and he puts out a ton of content that is (a) funny and (b) honest..

i personally wont watch linus vids the other guy he works with Luke who sometimes makes them and does reviews i will watch as he does not have that squeaky /winey voice that linus does..

i think its wrong that a 10 man operation that has a £25k server and massive warehouse sponser deals with ASUS LG and Intel has 2million+ subs an average video view of 150k per video needs patrion which in all is meant for the small buisness single person to earn a little extra just to keep afloat..

And got it, all of it, and more, and it cost them *nothing* not even a % in any taxes or to anyone else. They soaked up every penny.

That makes me think.. I wonder if they reported that as income on the companies behalf for tax deductions etc... I very much doubt it...
 
Unless if you're registered as a charitable company then you have to pay tax on your patreon donations.

Yeah, he's clearly making enemies.. As I maintain, the higher you are the further you have to fall...

Having said that though Linus is a corporation's dream. Lively, driven, positive about everything. He could make a turd sound interesting.

I guess those who are born like that (and don't ever listen to the voices in their head and can mute them fully) will do well.

I could never be like Linus. I'm too honest for a start. If some one sent me a bad product I would rip it to pieces. And that's not how our world works. How does the saying go? "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all !". Well that's me completely screwed then really.

But yeah, good salesmen (because that's what he is no doubt) will do well in life. Some one who can lie, manipulate and achieve through dishonesty will do very, very well in life...

I don't hate yes men though. At the end of the day if you are capable of lying and can use it to aid your financial gain then fair play.
 
Meh, I don't like his videos anyway. Too much misinformation (he's completely wrong a LOT of times), he's annoying (and so is the other guy, just less so), etc. Won't watch his videos ever again. I don't hate the guy, but he grates on my nerves.
 
Have you also noticed, he is starting to pick at the other guys as a pushy boss at times. There have been a few comments that it was staged, and jokes, but I don't think so. They are scattered out of several videos. It may have something to do with him bringing his wife on board. That's a totally other can of worms, I will just not touch.
 
I personally stopped watching Linus after he painted that Rampage Extreme motherboard blue. My 4 year old could have done a better job.

And I dread to think how many people watched it and tried to replicate it. :eek:
