Overheating Graphics cards

Running my 2 x GTX660 DC2 series in SLI they have been running fine, now they have just started to get hotter then normal in idle around 49 - 51 degrees.
Stranger still when running any game and under load they drop in temp to around 44 degrees
Couple of things have changed lately, new Nvidia update Geforce 335.23 driver, also noticed the FB had gone up on my MB.
I have set the brd back to default settings but no change in temp, I was thinking it was just down Ambient Temp.
Any suggestions would be great.

Check if your gpu is throttling (down clocking). You can run furmark, it will stress test your gpu and it will show the memory and core clock.

Hmm, I suspect that your GPUs run under constant full load for some reason. Please install GPU-Z and check the sensor readings, especially core clocks, fan speed and GPU load in IDLE.
Also it would be interesting to know which tool you used to measure temps in the first place - maybe the readings are just bonkers.
