overclocking a gpu

Hi all, i have two gtx 260 which were running at 620mhz core clock, so i decided to overclock it to 702mhz core clock. so i did some benchmarks and im only getting about 8 more fps on mafia 2, only 8 fps more on crysis, and about 25 fps more in cod 4 which is no big deal because without the overclock i was able to run it at 235 fps stable. so at first i thought the lack of improvement must be my cpu but i have an intel core i7 920 runnig at 3.50ghz and have 6g of ram. so my question is, is it worth overclocking a card and taking the risk of less lifetime?

Will you get another/better rig one day?

what is gona happen to the cards if they survive?

. i think your GPU's will last long overclocked. only overclock when you need better results ofc. a target is getting 60 V Sync'd frames per second, depending on your monitor/setup etc, and Crysis runs at 50 frames per second when V Sync'd here. my monitor is adjusted automatically when i run Crysis, to 50hz.

enable tripple buffering when using V Sync, its an option in the Nvidia Control Pannel, 3D settings

thanks

The amout of life shortened by overclocking is nothing compared to the actual life of the graphics card. Chances are by the time you do run into problems, it would be so hopelessly obsolete you'll need to replace it anyway.
