Hey guys, this thread is now renamed and the official thread for everything Fallout 4 related on OC3D :)

You're free to discuss anything and post screenshots, but if you want to dump a load of high-resolution screenshots, you'll have to do this in The Ultimate Game Screenshot Thread . Of course you are free to post a link to your post in that thread here, and it'd also be appreciated if the discussion continues in this thread.

This way this thread can be less image-heavy for mobile and slow-internet users and the Screenshot Thread won't go too far off-topic.

Oh and obviously, SPOILER WARNING.

Well with Fallout 4 coming out not so long ago, I've accumulated a few hours already touring the new bad sadly smaller Wasteland/ Commonwealth.

This game is so much crisper than Fallout 3 and it runs on 4 cores ;)

I have only had a few bugs my self, and trailed making stuff along with my power armour! :)

So throw in pics and see if we can make Mr Kambo buy it;)

Here is what i have found looking in the wastes all are 4k for your eyes pleasure.

I can't stop playing and like before I'm not doing any of the main quest line yet ... That baby will be a man when I see it.

I've clocked 30+ hours on it now. Pretty big gaming binge on my behalf, my biggest in ages. :D

I'm almost finished the main quest, but overall it really seems I've only scratched the surface with it. The list of quests to complete just keeps growing and growing.

Only thing would be if it was a little less combat heavy. There seems to be raiders everywhere in some places.

As for pictures, I like this one, only 1080p though. :p

Don't have any pics atm, but this game has got me hooked. I'm level 18/19 right now, just about to enter the Institute.

Anyway, are there any good ways to get rid of Super Mutant Suiciders? Can you shoot the explosive he's carrying? I came across one today and I died repeatedly. Ended up just throwing a Nuka Grenade at him. Did the trick

I'm new to the fallout franchise and FO4 being my first, there's so much to do but where to start lol only played about 4 hours total and on level 8. Just hit diamond city.

Caution : There may be spoilers ahead !

When I first started out this game I was struggling, even with it on the easiest difficulty setting (Very Easy). I know, I know, but I take medication that makes me incredibly drowsy, so video games have been tough for me lately.

Any way yeah, I was struggling. Didn't know whether to follow the guy from the settlement or try and find in the institute and then I came up against an enormous crab that I could not beat. I didn't have any power armor and neither did I have the firepower.

I almost thought the game was going to be too hard because I was struggling for ammo, Stimpaks and so on. I really was struggling badly.

Then I heard a distress call come out for the BOS so I decided to follow that. After a couple of reasonably easy quests I then found myself with a BOS companion with a really big lazer rifle. This made the game much easier for me..

So, for the last two days now I have been doing exploration quests for a scribe finding components. The good thing is it has sent me to many new locations and the exploration has been amazing. Finally tonight I found the Fat Man, so now I have what I need (I got power armor with the BOS and I have been saving cells too) to go and bottom secks that large crab. I am sure the feeling will be tremendous.

Overall? this is a stunning game. At times the graphics look about as poor as graphics can be and then, out of nowhere, it can be flabbergasting. Same sort of deal as Fallout 3.

I am a very lucky boy having the PC I do and being able to play this at 4k. I really am blessed :)

Glad to hear you guys are enjoying it also. No matter how much people threw poo at it and bad mouthed it there's just no taking away from the sheer class and quality of the game itself. It really is breathtaking :)

I found shooting him in the legs with my laser rifle with 50+ damage helps lol good source of mini nukes. He Hehe hehe

Wow 30 plus hours is crazy! Did you take time off to play it?
I must admit although the map seems small there is an awful lot more to do it seems. And 1080p looks great too!

Glad ya enjoying it randombadger and those levels fly up quickly enough trust me :)

And as for difficulty I was lucky to have that super mutant follower when I came up against a murlock thing and I barely dented it with my best weapon, then blam one hit from the super mutant and it was dead with his mighty club. Woo.

I've now swapped him for Preston the guy you meet at the museum as he will get in my half finished second power armour so we roll on wasteland like some bad asses ;)

Yes im Vault Tek themed... (Ultra Marines!!!)

does any one else feel that the interiors are a LOT smaller in this game than any other fallout or even skyrim?

i started off not on the best foot having to re assign key binds in the registry so i could use the keys i wanted.
then i wasnt so happy about the interaction, or the story they wanted me vested in.. But as i went allong i started really enjoying it. and getting more involved with my settlements.
but when i became more involved with settlements i kept going out on junk runs. and thats when i really started to notice the interiors are a lot smaller,
i played 10 hours 1st turn on survival mode. then once i got the hang of it started again and im about 17 hours in now. (wife hasnt seen much of me to be fair)
But im reallly noticing it now and its nagging at the back of my mind. the level design has to have been made with console restrictions in mind.

I just finished the main story line last night (played about 35 hours). Loving the game, i just need to ditch the habit of hoarding fusion cores just "in case i need my power armor later". I had 21 still left over at the end of the main quest lol. I haven't found the super mutant follower yet though... i'll have to keep a look out for him.

Anyway, started a second play through with a heavy guns focus. Combat is just sooo good compared to previous games, i wanted to try out every aspect of it. Oh and grenades are actually useful too, unlike in previous games.

P.S, Trying NOT to give away any spoilers, but if you do the quest line to help out the USS Constitution then they give you by far my favorite weapon in the game so far!

For the super mutant follower its a radio signal you get, you follow it to a guy and his friend strong :) I think its near or in trinity tower

I just got to the Institute this morning in the game after 30+ hours playthrough.

I generally intended to follow the main quest, but I just kept getting distracted with random crap along the way. I swear the number of quests and amount of stuff to do just keeps getting bigger and bigger the more I explore. This really is a game I'll probably end up sinking hundred's of hours into, Skyrim was the last one I did that with.

I'm still not the best fan of the emphasis on combat, but with dropping the difficulty to "Normal", some of the better companions, more of the sneak perks, and some of the better weapons it's getting more fun to play.

And some pictures for fun:

Yeah I figured that out last night :D I thought they only had explosives but no, if you look closely enough (if you dare) you can see him cradling a mini nuke under his arm !

Very useful. I finally found the Fat Boy and I needed it for the giant Mirelurk. I was short of ammo though, so I simply went off and found some Suiciders to steal them from :D

At first I was running away until they exploded lol. Now I'm charging in head first.

As for saving cells? I'm about 15 hours in now and I've got 15 cells. I did have 17, but ended up needing the power armor for a couple of quests (the giant Mirelurk and clearing a town filled with Raiders and robots !).

I've been off the main quest for ages I'm just enjoying the side quests :)

BTW guys. There's much better power armor if you join the BOS. Doesn't take too long to get to either. Plus you get a lovely flight over Boston in a Virtibird. It's stunning !

I will try and remember to load FRAPS today and get some piccys. So far the most breathtaking scene I've experienced was a sunrise. Everything in the distance turned into a warm fuzzy haze it was so ace.

The rain can be quite beautiful too.

Dogmeat is annoying me more than anything. I love dogs but all he does is run off to enemies when I am trying to be stealthy, block my way when I try to run through a door for cover and then get shot and use all my Stimpacks to not let him die.

And then when I try to collect ammo off dead enemies HE GETS IN THE WAY AGAIN AND I CAN'T PICK ANYTHING UP.

He can't die IIRC. just get rid of him. There are much better companions.

Anyone else now getting frame drops and texture loading issues now you've done a lot more exploring/building? Sometimes the textures don't fully load for a good 30 seconds or so. I've also magically lost 30FPS.

I did find out that I can't get 60 FPS on my 760. I didn't expect it to run maxed out (despite it, tbf, looking pretty mediocre for a 2015 game) but there is no difference in my FPS at all with God Rays maxed out, or completely off and AA on 8 instead of 16.

Also, in for instance GTA if there are frame drops to 35 FPS, it's annoying but playable, in Fallout 4 as soon as my FPS dips below 40 it's stutter everywhere and feels more like 15 FPS.

Yeah, I get the stutter too. I'm hoping that nVidia release a fix soon as I think its only currently with 7xx nVidia cards.

I can max it out for almost all of the map. It just runs really poorly near salem and further south. Probably because it has more complex shadows. Its just now that the biggest issue I have is the textures not loading. Occasionally my guns won't load for a few seconds too. That -literally (in the sense of the game)- kills me. The SSD its on is a 840 evo so it could finally be having the issues they're supposed to have.
