OC3D Isolation Thread - How are you coping?

Thank you all for your congratulations and well wishes. It means a lot.
Telling the truth here. I did buy a Urahara hat with my first payslip as a writer for the website. Seemed appropriate.
When I first went over to the Island to see TTL (5 years ago), I brought the hat with me. See if he recognised the hat alone. I think I chickened out and decided not to wear it as I got closer to his house though. A missed opportunity.
In Northern Ireland, you can meet with 4-6 people outside (if they aren't from the same household) if social distance (2 meters) is maintained. But yeah, we did break the rules by breaking social distance.
I knew I was going to propose, so that rule went out the window as soon as we sat down for the picnic. Ain't nobody gonna criticise the newly engaged couple for breaking the social distancing rules.
Today was the first day that no new deaths of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Northern Ireland. Hopefully that means that some of the rules will slacken soon. Hopefully that will give us enough wriggle room to visit our families, both of which live nowhere near Belfast.

Anyone else feeling really on edge with everything going on?
Since the lockdown has started I haven't been able to see my partner because she's on 12 week isolation for being extremely vulnerable and we don't live at the same address yet. I've been having to pull at least 50 hours a week working because some of my work colleagues are off isolating as well.
But the way the public expect us to be perfect all the time is really, really, making me mad. Every little thing is making me feel like snapping and dishing out the same grief they've been giving us. I genuinely feel like I'm at my wit's end now.

Not sure where you are located but if its UK... I have never seen such careless disregard for what's going on.
I laughed at a BBC interview of a woman who drove 1.5 hours to get to the beach, only to complain to the BBC that there were too many people there. "why aren't they home isolating themselves" It's this sheer magnitude of stupidity that is the reason we still have to islolate.

I have actually returned to the office but only 25% of desks are available. Gyms are still closed but things are gradually returning.
However looking again at UK.. I keep getting news updates of XXX deaths in 24hours. It's like its not ending there at all.

It's really annoying me how people are just acting with complete disregard, even if the goverment had the best response possible, people would still ignore it, then blame the goverment for the deaths. I'm not defending the goverment's response in the slightest, but this the level of brilliance we have to work with, and the same brilliance I'm dealing with at my work as well.
That beach thing, that just summed it up perfectly, I've never seen such a perfect example of pot kettle in my life.

Seen a few of those look at all these people videos totally oblivious to the fact that they are part of the problem, had a bloke post about my local high street while filming himself being close to others complaining people aren't keeping the 2m rule.
Sames been pointed out about Dominic cummings and the press all packed like sardines around him while complaining about his misdemeanor.

I don't really have a leg to stand on here, as I did break social distancing when I got engaged. Aside from that, I have only been out of my house for food and essentials.
It is frustrating to hear house parties every once in a while here, or people simply ignoring the rules. Thankfully the virus hasn't hit Northern Ireland has hard as the rest of the UK, but people are getting very complacent.
Northern Ireland doesn't seem to be as bad as England when it comes to rule breaking. As far as the beach goes, the English rules have allowed people to go there if social distancing is in place, which means that people go and once there Social distancing is very difficult to maintain.
They shouldn't have made the rules so lax. It doesn't help that the government aren't willing to act as good examples either. The Cummings fiasco is a farce, but I don't want to discuss that here.

If given an inch, people will take a mile. I'm not exactly a star citizen here, I haven't kept to the guidelines perfectly, but I've did my best to follow the rules whenever possible. I even wear a mask to the shops to try and keep other people safe.
I don't know if the same holds true for England, but people will stay further away from you when you are wearing a mask. Fogs my glasses like nothing else, but it seems to encourage people around me to keep to the rules.
I think the problem has two parts, as bad leadership breeds bad citizens. If you can't respect whoever makes the rules, why would the collective follow it?

To be completely honest. WYP. You getting engaged with your partner is different, we're all human after all, not everyone is going to follow the guidelines 100%. I've done nothing other than go to work, buy my essentials, go home and what not, but I know in June when my partner's 12 weeks are up, we will be breaking social distancing as well. It's just that most have a complete disregard entirely, what's getting to me most is that at my work people expect perfect service like it was before covid and give us hell when we can't despite we're down colleagues, got to abide all the guidelines while working, and all that.
They're doing the same thing in Canada's capital. All you see on the news is this "quarantine" bollocks, yet you look outside and there's people walking everywhere, traffic is still thick, etc. No one's actually quarantining themselves, especially in Canada after winter, when the weather gets nice. Good luck keeping people indoors, LOL!

My routine has changed little other than I now only walk Ruby once, wife takes her out in the morning and is now working from home. I only leave home to go to the shop or in the afternoon, I take ruby to the park which is 50 yards away and observe social distancing.
Have cancelled the veterans breakfast club from the outset of this debacle. Council meetings are now only 1 a month and via Zoom.
Only thing I really miss is Saturday mornings breakfast with my veteran mates.

The UK has a hell of a lot of highly HIGHLY ignorant a***holes.
I went shopping yesterday, Kept my distance from everyone and at the bus stop there was this group of chavs that approached, All clustered together smoking their drugs, Walked in a group towards me and the several people at the bus stop all of which were 2 metres apart, I shouted "Hang on d***heads, 2 metres, NOW !" they just groaned and moved away.
It's scumbags like that who spread this virus and the UK, England in particular, Has the most scum I have seen in any European country, And I've been to nearly all countries in Europe.
While people recreationally breaking the rules has been an issue here it doesn't have seem to have been much different to many other countries(Including other countries within the UK like Scotland and NI where the main difference has been stricter workplace regulations). From the general tracking data harvested from mobile networks it seems like the biggest determining factors in the higher spread here were from the number of workplaces allowed to still operate without social distancing, and the amount of people forced into cramped public transport early on from still having to go to work during a period where bus & underground drivers were already so heavily affected that significant amounts were having to take time off, leading to reduced schedules, leading to even more cramped transport. Anyone who thinks all non-critical workers were able to actually stop working/work from home in the UK probably doesn't actually know many working class people.
That, and the care home situation of course, as the majority of our deaths for most of the crisis are purely from care homes. I know our council like many others were told by the government to reserve care home space for elderly "recoveries" long before there was any reasonable way to test them, it seems these tactics from the top seeded many care homes with the virus at a time before there was a functional supply of PPE. Of course this is exasperated by the fact over the last 10 years these services were heavily privatised and stripped down into a for-profit industry, bringing the profit-motive into questions that affect hundreds of lives, we now have the 2nd most privatised care home sector in the world after America, and the results seem to be showing.
Our council has also switched to zoom calls but only for committee meetings, I do kinda miss the branch & CLP meetings though. There's gonna be a lot of fat to chew once everythings up and running again.
