OC3D F@H Competition

Fortunately my temps haven't increased that much because of the weather. Graphics card is staying at a steady 75 C even with all this heat so I'm going to continue folding on it :D

Unfortunately Ive had a massive jump in temps with this very hot weather, so much so that Ive had to drop my clocks as i cant afford to make the jump over to water cooling :(.. looking at the weather though it should be easing up so can get back up to full speed soon. :D

I am going to finish this strong. Drove down to the parents and had the laptop crunching for a day now. On top of that I have dragged my main rig out of the Garage and got it also crunching while I am here.

Unfortunatly the O/C on the 2600k has been knocked down to the max turbo speed of 3800mhz as last time I had it running it tripped over itself with a blue screen at both 4500mhz and again at 4400mhz, using the same Vcore. So I need to figure out where that instability is.

After saying I was going to finish strong, the Xeon box is working on a WU that still has 15 hours left to crunch.

So unless something, anything, turns up from my main rig in the final two updates, it looks like I was just blowing smoke :s

My Xeon box has tiny work units, but my main rig got a huge 2.5m step unit. May need to leave this rig running for tonight

Good luck everyone. I've managed to keep my PPD slightly above my starting average, which I'm happy about. It doesn't help that I also game on my folding rig (I'm calling it my folding rig now, because that's what it does mainly, albeit not 24/7 :p)

Congrats to everyone who participated in the competition. It has been an exciting month with lots of ups and downs with PPD, literally. ;)

Thank you Tom for the competition and thank you hmmblah for coordinating everything.

I have everyone's PPD as of right now, will post up results tomorrow. All I can say is you guys kicked some ass! I was hoping this would eliminate half of you, but it doesn't look like that is the case. Nice job everyone!

Don't know if I finished + or - from the start, but I do know that PG just went back to crappy GPU WU's. Poor PPD with lots of heat and poor SMP pointage, is that what you would call a tripple whammy??

Sorry to be so negative lately, but to be honest I'm getting quite fed up with the inconsistencies (probably spelled that wrong LOL) And I know how effective venting in folding forums is:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::lol:

Thanks to TTL and blah for the supporting the best F@H team around!!!:D:D:D

Nice job everyone!! :)

Does this mean I can finally take this ridiculous contraption apart and put my video cards back in the normal computers?

Thanks to those who made this competition possible. I managed a pretty decent final day with both rigs going strong dispite the horrible work units.

I would have felt like I was cheating if my average was going to fall short just from the rig I had folding for the month, but it was fairly stable around the 25k mark, so the extra folding power for the 36 to 48 or so hours is just extra points for the team.

Good luck everyone. I don't envy the job hmmblah and TTL have got trying to decide where the hardware goes.

Absolutely a huge NO!!!! And you must continue to fold for 98860 and remain an active member of the team!!

Hope you stick around bud! Maybe we can get TTL to do a monthly contest to keep you around here

Actually that is what most of my stuff looks like:lol:

Haha. You know I'm a sucker for a competition, win or lose! I will have to keep going for another few days before I go down to one small rig folding(unless I some how win the drawing in which case the 560 too). Might as well get into 8th place overall while its right there. I completely did the math wrong, I was just hoping to get to 10,000,000 by the end of the competition, and slip into 10th.

I had to do it this way as the GPU's take just enough CPU to kill the bigadv TPF. It was a compromise because I couldn't overclock the GPU thats fan is covered(at stock it was hitting mid 90's with that huge turbo fan blowing on it), but the math worked out way better(lost 20,000PPD with GPU's in this configuration, but gained 90,000PPD on bigadv). My favorite is the Intel P4 heatsink on the AMD 3800+. I couldnt find a 939 heatsink in my mass of junk, had to remove the CPU heatsink retaining bracket from the board, and use wall mounts I found in a different junk drawer and used some blue rubber band to hold them together.

Thanks Tom and hmmblah for an awesome competition :D. I've just barely managed to keep the PPD average I started with, which I'm happy with.
