OC3D F@H Competition

***Update 8/20/2012 - Winner Announced Here!

The lucky winner can expect anywhere from 15k to 25k PPD depending on the WU and the clocks you settle on.

This isn't your normal "pick a number from a hat" competition. When we open up registrations you will need to submit your 24hour average to this thread. I will verify your average with EOC Stats. All those registered along with their average will be posted here. It is your responsibility to make sure you are registered before the cutoff.

At the close of the competition we will check your 24hr average for the period. Your average at the end must be within 10% of your registered average. A higher final average is encouraged of course.

Rules
  • Competition starts 00:00 July 1st and ends July 31st 24:00, all times in GMT.
  • Registration is open now until the 30th of this month. That gives us a day to check any last minute entries.
  • We will be watching averages before the competition starts, so if there is a huge dropoff in someone's average they will not be allowed entry.
  • Users must register a 24 average and have over 500,000 points when registering
  • At the end of the competition, entrants must have an average score no lower than 10% of their registered average score from the start of the competition (more is better!)
  • A winner will be chosen from the short list generated at the end of the competition.

There are some of you that are very close to the 500,000 point cutoff so you have about 2 weeks to get there. This competition will be used to test the waters for this type of thing at OC3D. We'd like to see high participation. This will determine whether or not this sort of thing continues.

To those that recently joined or won't make the cutoff; don't be discouraged. You are a valuable member of the team! Keep folding along and do what you can for next time. To those thinking about possibly joining and starting to fold; do it! You can't be in this competition (this time), but what better time than now to start folding for a worthy cause and a great team!

Well I don't qualify this time since I have only just joined the team but still a great competition though

good luck everybody!

Stoner81.

Now that I have my systems sorted out, I knew it was time to get serious about folding. Have a 3820, 2500K, and 580 crunching away. Looking to be about 100K/day! If only the 690 could fold.

Best get settled and get entered then. Let the numbers do the talking.

Too bad I only get 1000PPD Max if I would run 24/7 and I've just joined the team

Well, my average is atm 50,733, signing in for the competition.

I guess all of us have seen the average drop a bit lately. :/

Blah and TTL, this looks to be a well thought competition and should be a nice benefit to the Team

I do see one rule that could be a potential problem.....
  • At the end of the competition, entrants must have an average score no lower than 10% of their registered average score from the start of the competition (more is better!)

In the last 2 weeks my PPD has gone from 300K PPD to its current 220K PPD just from the current batch of WU's being assigned, that is about a 26% decline that is out of my control. I don't think anyone would like to be disqualified because of this situation....

Good point. We'll have to look at the trends when it closes. I'd hope that through a month the averages will even out blips like that.

Good point Steve but I'd guess from the last 2 weeks we are at the low end of the PPD, if this trend continues then the competition sets the average at this new lower average there would be no place to go but up. i.e my guess PPD is not going to drop another 26% from here.

or the backup plan could be for me to do something with this 3770K I have just sitting in a box. haha.

How will the Winner be chosen? You say "A winner will be chosen from the short list generated at the end of the competition." Will this be a random drawing or based on highest PPD? Also I remember TTL saying the comp may only be open to the UK folks. Please clearify .

We will choose a winner. The contest is to narrow down the results. It may be random or it may be someone from the short list who deserves it most. Either way, a winner will be chosen.

AFAIK, the competition is open to everyone. I'll double check to be certain though.

just rejoined the folding fray with my new rig and wondered how to get in on this shindig as don't appear on the EOD stats list?

but it seems to be taking an eternity to do just one work unit ~36hrs per unit (any ideas)

also it suggests my current ppd will be in the 14-15k region, is this right for a 3770k going 100% for 12hours a day? (Can't really afford to leave it on longer)

really hope the update to use nVidia 6xx is launched soon

ive just put my old hd6670 in my second slot to run full time, that way i still have my hd6950 to use

for gaming etc, and when im not using the big card ill run that as well

)

i cant help looking at the F@H client progress bar's everytime im in the room haha

Oh and checking the stats to see where i am after the end of every WU.

What a horrible time for my rigs to go down while I'm away. That automatically disqualifies me (huge PPD dip before the comp starts).
