OC3D Article: Dear Santa for Christmas I want...Overclock3Ds Christmas wish list

quite a good list of components :)

shame you didnt mention any AMD parts :(

you should cater for the AMD fanboy too......

just my 2pense lol

Nope, I'll cater for what is the fastest and best value on the market, imo...Intel right now :)

It's not telling you what you have to get, but what I would get personally :)

As my good friend Bob once said:

"You can please some people some time, but you can't please all the people all the time" :D

illogical preferences to hardware branding has no place in a 'best value for money' thread tbh

ok, point made

at present though, with the number of intel systems i've had that have broken (4) and the number of AMD that have broken (0) ....i know which i would choose...

shame you didnt factor reliability into it...

or am i just unlucky

Unlucky...or accident prone :p

Brilliant idea, brilliant list!

I think u pretty much got it bang on there (Y) altho im going evga for my gfx for stepup + warranty :p

Very helpful..if only i had the money :(

nice choice in there. i feel that coolermaster powersupply was worth a mention also but a great list none-the-less :D

Nice artice... good to leave as a front page for a gift/grief giver (grief for like 3 days out of 3.001) to '''stumble upon''''

I am not sure what this is all about...

"The drive is simply HUGE. 750GB is 250GB more than the closest competitor at present. Put two of these together in one PC and you have well over a terabyte of hard drive space. This is a must for those who constantly deal with huge amounts of data in such application as home server use or HTPC/Media PC applications."

Western Digital's 750GB disk outperforms the Seagate by a good margin. And is 20 dollars cheaper in the US.

XFX has the best warranty right now.

Why wasnt the 7200.11 HDs mentiond?

Also, i wouldnt consider a Saitek keyboard. Me and my best friend have gone through 2 a piece. My Fatal1ty on the other hand dosent even have a letter rubbed off yet and ive had it for over half a year.

Looks like a decent enough list, if not obvious choices. Guess this is more for people out of the loop...

One thing, I agree with PP re saitek. I have the rev1 and bought it because I was feeling cheap (I know, it happens to the best of us). It works but I have a HUGE gripe with the spacebar - it is crap. Allow me to elaborate.

Every keyboard I've ever used until this one had 2 'push mechanisms' under the space bar. This one has one, in the centre. When you type quickly or things get frantic in games it doesn't always interpret the push as the spacebar has a tendancy to act like a see-saw and simply pivot.

It is really annoying.

Maybe rev2 they changed this, if so - fine its a nice kb. If not avoid like HepC.

Might curb the influx of "what should I ask for for christmas" threads lol

If some1 had all those bits and put em all together - either choices in each category - they`re gonna have some mean computational festivities.

There`s not alot of room for arguement, only in terms of personal flavors of similar things.

Not much happy about the psus, but hey, they`ll run both machines if u buy ALL the bits :p

Excellent thread.

As I said with the KB that's personal choice and Saiteks are awesome in my opinion.

As I said with the HDD's: whatever really, it's just a basic guide :)
