OC3D AMD Fiji Owners Club

Whats your coil whine like on the Strix card?. My Sapphire Tri OC coil whine is starting to me off and I've only been living with it 2 days!.

Tried lowering clock speeds, overclocking and same result. Thinking if I RMA it i'll probably get the same result!.

Is it constant or does it only happen in certain situations?

I'd say to update my thing here to a Fury X, but I don't think the OP has been here in the past month....

When I ran 3dmark/futuremark got the coil whine in all benchmarks tests...Normal operation nothing so far. Gonna try loading up arkham knight and see if it does it on that later.

Those are kinda heavy benchmarks which also stress the power delivery system...

Remember to limit the framerate or enable vsync if you get really high fps, like in older/simple games

I can attest to the drivers being top notch now for AMD. The very latest Fallout 4 driver is excellent, and performance has risen so much that I can now use FXAA without paying too high a price @ 4k. I still get my slowdowns sure, but I am more convinced they are engine based, rather than driver/grunt based.

Ya those drivers really made a big difference as WYP showed in his article. It's a shame that the driver came out after the game did though. I wonder what the new Raedon software suite will do for performance of the newest games when it comes out

So Tomb Raider i still get a coil whine in 1080p with vsync enabled...Not as audible as before but its still present :(

It's not unusual for any card to have coil whine during in game menus or really old games because they can tend to spike up to the high hundreds or even thousands of FPS which causes the coils to vibrate intensely. If it does it outside of that and it's constant then I'd suggest a RMA.

Just using the benchmark tool in Tomb Raider and its audible...Maybe if I noise dampen the case?

What if I put a waterblock on it? lol

Just games it appears to do it on, normal tasks like YouTube, web browsing when the card is doing nothing its fine.

putting a block on it won't change anything as it's the coils and not temp related. I'd probably RMA if it does it in every game.

Ah right.

I've found a half baked solution to this without RMA'ing the GPU. Underclocking the core by 100mhz or so appears to get rid of the coil....I think I'll just turn the volume up of the speakers or use my headphones instead though :P.

I've heard whine three or four times over the last two months. It always disappeared. The worst overclocker ever though.

I just installed Crimson. It crashed within ten minutes. lol

Are folks on 15.11.1 Beta or 15.11 that comes with Crimson?

Crimson requires a new installation like any driver. It's replacing so the CCC drivers:p

Not home so haven't been able to install it but looking at the website it's a full new driver. I'd reckon you'd uninstall your current driver then install the new Crimson suite.

I don't think you're understanding my question. I'm asking whether folks here are using 15.11.1 or 15.11. I wanted to see if anyone was experiencing issues with either.

I didn't actually uninstall my previous driver before updating to Crimson. I forgot that a driver came with it. I thought I was just downloading Radeon Settings. If there are any issues with gaming, I'll DDU and reinstall 15.11 or 15.11.1.

People on this forum weren't having any issues with those. I believe I'm on the last CCC official driver which was the one before the fallout 4 beta one. No issues for me but I've never had issues with there drivers tbh.

I'll go through sometime this week and ddu my current driver then install these ones and benchmark it to compare. Afaik the only issue people are having with this new suite is the fallout 4 beta patch which causes a lot of bugs. Without using that beta though people have it working flawlessly as far as I can see in this forum
