NZXT H440 Custom Colour Swap

I did have an idea for my current white H440, put the black panels from that stealth on it for a black exterior and white interior, and then the other way around for the stealth case, But i dont think it is worthy enough and i would end up with a spare case which i have no use for, well maybe to put my guest pc hardware in it.

Nice job on the colour swap Tom! looks really great! I am pretty new here, but I have to said, that I think that you are doing the best job on video reviews on youtube. I have learn alot from it.

as for your case, I think it would look really great if you put this inside:

"Skylake GTX 5.0 TURBO Build."

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte Z170X Gaming GT or Gaming 7
CPU: I7 6700K
CPU COOLER: Corsair H100i GTX with the red top/badges & Corsair SP Quiet Edt. Red Ring.
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 16GB(2x8GB kit, 3000Mhz)
GPU: 2x "Nvidia GTX 970 ASUS Turbo" in SLI
OS SSD: 1x Samsung SM951 M.2 SSD 256GB
STORAGE/GAMING SSD: 2x Corsair SSD Neutron GTX 480Gb
PSU: any? maybe a Corsair RM750/850i Watts
OS: Windows 10 64-bit?

CASE: Your NZXT H440 TTL Edition Case,
Custom Foiled/Vinyl "Skylake GTX 5.0 TURBO" Red text, silver shadow on the front or side panel in similar style as the logo/text on the motherboard.
Other things: LED Strip Light White, Corsair AF Quiet Edt. Red Ring, Red Sleeved Cables.

This list is from a "old build" I wanted to do, only with a Nzxt s340 white instead.
The idea come from a mix of nice car i saw and the new gigabyte motherboards, the asus 970 turbo and focus on the gtx part.

Now as for me, I am upgrading from a old x58 platform (I7-920, GTX580, Intel 80gb ssd/1tb samsung hdd and 6gb of corsair dominator ram) and think it is the time replace it with a skylake build.

The H440 Stealth Edition, I would like to build a "old, but classic" build as:

The Shadow Strix Build

2rfav6o.jpg

MOTHERBOARD: Asus Sabertooth z170
CPU: I7 6700K
CPU COOLER: Corsair H100i GTX with the silver top/badges. maybe even the EK-Predator 240?
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 16GB(4x4GB/2x8gb kit, 3000Mhz)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 980 ASUS Strix
OS SSD: 1x Samsung SM951 M.2 SSD 256GB
STORAGE/GAMING SSD: 1x Samsung 850 Evo
PSU: Corsair RM750i Watts
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
CASE: Your H440 Stealth Edition. Custom Vinyl sticker of a Black Gloss Strix Logo with silver outline on the front of the case.

Other: LED Strip Light White, Fractal Design Venturi Series Fans, Corsair Sleeved Cables Black/grey

I wish all of you good luck!

Lol Wraith giving them a hard time :P
It's not so much giving a hard time it's more a kick start for those creative juices, as the Guv has already stated "simply just asking.. because, won't work" I personally already have ideas about my next case mod and the H440 as great as it is won't work, not without a lot of jiggery pokery. I've had this 450D staring at me begging for modding but like Tom I get ideas and then my mod plan changes and I just can't make my mind up.

The only thing I like about the 440 is the Exterior, PSU shroud and motherboard tray, thankfully you can't see the drive trays because they are terrible and put me right off (air flow wise), the exterior in black alone is gorgeous and I'd only be willing to vinyl decal it because paint would be sacrilege, lighting would be a must for this case, nice subtle whites in key areas would set it off, like displaying a glorious monolith.

proposal for the Sexy Stealth Black H440

Hi Everyone im pete and im in the UK.

The H440 pc case from NZXT it an amazing case and im sure you dont need me to tell you that as it has many Many fans out there. i am madly obsessed with the H440.
i hope Tinytomlogan does not mind me sharing my work with you that iv done on the H440. as some of you may be interested in havign a look.

If you own a H440 for some time chances are you will be familiar with the Led Resistor board failing leading to the i/o and NZXT Logo not lighting up or being very dim. Original NZXT Resistor Board has a known issue of failing over time due to a Design error
(Resistors used are too small and underrated so get hot and fail) This results in a very dim looking NZXT LOGO or leds not illuminating the logo at all.

I contacted NZXT about this and they said they will ship out free replacement led resistor boards however there is no plans to fix the design flaw the board have so the replacement will fail in time again. This is not a bad thing ...its just not feasible for NZXT to do so whithc is understandable soo As i have experience in PCB Design and production and have done for many years i decided i will make my own and improve the design. and add some extra features.

Original Led resistor board in question
i280vo.jpg

After many late nights and lots of coffee i finally had a finished schematic and eagle file ready to send off to my PCB Fab house. after receiving my boards and populating them it turns out they work as expected and very well.
My Re designed resistor board
Resistor board has a RED switch built in to turn on/off the NZXT Logo.
the switch on the back of the pc case turns on/off the I/O back Leds
(I personally believe this is how it should have always been. having the i/o leds on all the time makes no scene to me)

2z6ayxg.jpg

This replacement permanently fixes this problem by using larger Wattage overkill resistors meaning they don't get hot and will never fail. Thought i have designed the PCB Board in such a way to act as a heatsink for the resistors.

I then decided to change the power on/off button led colour to red (match my colour theme. unfortunately finding replacement leds in the correct shape and size that fit inside the original H440 switches are impossible to find. soo i decided to re design this and add some more extra features.

My Re Designed Power on/off switch board

Here you can see i have used 0805 SMD LED'S which are very bright. The HDD Activity Leds are also surrounding the power switch button. (4 red leds..4 blue leds)
i decided to add some connectors to easily connect and power led strips.

underneath the board is were you connect 12v from the power supply.

Here is another one of my designs. its basically a PWM Fan splitter. it allows you to power and control 11 PWM fans from the CPU fan header on the motherboard
Why did i design this? well there is no 11 way PWM Splitter in existent.so i tuck it upton myself to design and make one. why this design have gone thogh many re designs to fit many cases i also designed it to fit into a H440 HDD cage usng the SSD mounting points.

I also pinout the Tacho from each fan so you can connect these to a fan controler to display each fans speed.

So now you probably want to see my H440 build ??? here are some pictures and yes that motherboard is infarct a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 with a AMD FX 8350 BLACK clocked a little over stock at 4.32GHZ
Heatsinks and EVGA GTX 770 has been spray painted with 600c heat resistant red paint. All fans are Coolermasters jetflow 120mm PWM Versions.

As for what i would do if i won the all black H440 case.
start a new build but concentrate on keeping the theme stealth like as it really does look stealthy and do a full acrylic watercooling loop...maybe chrome tubes? ummm some experimentation would be needed.

Well thats it from me good luck to everyone that enters this little competition
Before anyone asks i no longer sell any of my H440 designs as there just too expensive to product in such small quantity's sorry nd if im honest the time it takes it wouldn't be worth it or would be over expensive. so sorry :( if im not aloud to post videos can admins please delete them. im unsure if im aloud. :)

Well this sounds to me more like "searching for a guy who can make a build and mod this case further" and not like a giveaway to someone who needs it. That "gradma's dog died and I need it" was a bit over the top if you asked me, most of the posts I read have more or less content/ideas but I see none trolling like that. I like your idea with decals of the stealth plane and would probably do it even if I wasn't the one who came up with it. I like a case the case because it is matte black, I "modded" my Toyota Celica year 2001 with a VeilSide body kit painted all matte black, black and silver rims, black window tint and black carbon fiber on roof and hood.

This is my stealth ride a.k.a batmobile.

But jumping back on topic, I guess there is also a risk here that the person who wins it might not even buy/do the build in the end, or not post their results back to the OC3D forums. I for example have the hardware parts for it but I'm missing the final touches. I have said in my post that I'm out of cash and that it could help me replace my current old Antec 1200 which side panel wont close anymore on this new build I made. But I can't say that if I win it I would immediately be able to make some sick modes, and yes some ideas require some money for the materials, even some decals printed on a quality material. But speaking for later, when I'm in a better financial state, I wouldn't leave it as it is now for sure, even tho it already looks great with nothing on it.

I suggest you go back and watch the video again and listen to what I say. At no point did I say anything about someone that needs it, I was asking for peoples ideas about what they would do to it. Its a give away to the person that will do the best with it.

As for having a go at Wraith - well he is a personal friend of mine (as are many of the forum regulars) so your attitude towards him has pretty much just ruined your chance of me ever wanting to send you my and thats the main point here MY stealth case.

Nice post dude :) Just a question here would you want to mod the case at all? i.e. stealth decoration of some sort.

I don't think I was near as impolite with anything I said compared to he's "I wanna see returners with renders and photosoup ideas! Multiple ideas, not just my grannies dog died gimme gimme gimme.". I have only said it's a bit over the top, I think you over reacted. But I guess that counts less since he is a friend of yours and I am just a regular, and more than that, this is your home, you make your own rules about who said anything offensive to who. About me losing the chance of getting it, I think you made it obvious in that post where you said "so far no one has gotten the job!"

Anyhow, good luck to the winner, may he build something astonishing.

I said in the video I wanted people to treat it like a job interview, put some effort in.

I accept your quoting of my post and yes it could be construed as a bit harsh for that I apologise, but this is the world we live in and has sadly become common place online. Every competition or in fact photo that gets shared of hardware invites the beggars and sob stories, which is not what we want, what we want is someone with the ability and creativity to take on... neh show and wow with their idea. It's a difficult thing I admit and especially so for Tom as he's giving this case away and not just to first come first served, it has to be good and impressive, show your worth. Too many times in the past I've seen things won or offered on empty promises only to be found a week later simply gathering dust or worse still on eBay.

P.S Your Celica "Batmobile" is awesome! Love the Matte black.

i wouldn't do anything with the case, as it needs nothing doing to it lol.

^best application so far

Thanks for the video! That's a reasonably simple way to get 2 cases that are different from what you can get off the shelf. As you say if you had a mate who wanted one colour scheme and you the other; or having the chance to on sell the unwanted one at a bit of a premium (though knowing what the internet is like fielding all the "Buuut NZXT doesn't do it in Red & White/all Black!" would be a pain).

Looking forward to seeing all the ideas for this one.

If anyone else wants a blank canvas, here you go.

A little tip, don't forget to explain what you would be putting into this rig and how you'd execute it, it's all in the detail.
