Since now every1 if familiar with the GTX Titan design and i heard most peaople like the reference design. I quite liek it myself, but i prefer a quite card...

So just saw this:

I know that these images are not confirmed, but still..
I man come on Nvidia ?
Use the same old design as the Titan and just change the names on the side ? This is cheap. I could have done that myself.

Apart from that, some performance numbers on the mobile side of things:

I honestly wouldn't mind, I think they look really good and most manufacturers will put an aftermarket cooler on it anyway. I really don't see the problem :p

I think this is awful that Nvidia are just rebranding a higher clocked 680. Why would anyone realistically want to buy a 770 when the 680 will likely have a nice price cut following the release.

Looks like they're setting themselves up for a loss against AMD which is stupid considering the gains they've made as a result of the "Framerating issue

Edit. Two posts went up before I could post mine..Feronix - great minds mate, great minds

Personally I think that the cooler looks great. It's not like they've done it to death, and considering the GTX 770 and lower are just 104 refreshes they need to use a sexy cooler to make them sell.

I've no problem with it tbh, though granted the "cards to have" will be custom cooled any way.

Only really stupid people who want to boast will buy a 770 or lower if they already own a 670/80.

These cards are for new purchasers who might have skipped the 6xx cards all together. Manus do this sort of chit all the time man it's nothing new and I have to doff my cap to Nvidia for doing it a lot less than they usually do.

Having had the Titan cooler in my hands I think this actually not a bad idea. It's a really awesome
cooler and might attract quite a few people.

I wonder though if the cooler actually is also made of solid alu, or it just looks the same as the Titan
without being of the same high quality.

Downside for me is that it makes my Titan a little less special.

Re: Rebadging of previous gen cards
That's not just Nvidia who's doing this, and it's been going on for quite a while in the lower end
card range. Considering the R&D costs for new GPU generations this is not an unreasonable
tactic. In the end I would say it depends on the final prices whether or not it can be classified
as ripping off customers or merely sensible product portfolio policy.

I like the look of the cooler, but when I either buy 2 GTX 780's or 2 GTX Titans I will be watercooling them anyway so the stock cooler won't be a issue.

AMD do it too. You could Crossfire X a 6770 with a 5770 because they were absolutely identical.

It usually happens more when a company has made a mistake. For example, Fermi. The stock coolers on those were utter pants so they released the 570 and 580. They also did it with the hot as hell GTX 260 and 280, releasing the 275 and the 285.

The way I look at it is like this. Nvidia have left 104 alone for coming up to a year. When I look around me the 670 still costs what it did (actually more, given the deal I got) when it launched and second hand prices have held firm.

How long has it been since we can say that a computer part has held its value for a year or more?

So personally I don't have any grudge toward Nvidia for doing a refresh tbh. It's about time, things were getting rather boring in the GPU market :)

That cooler is just Nvidia's latest reference cooler design. They could have done something slightly different for the 7xx series though.

It's all about dem aftermarket coolers though :D Twin Frozer, DCU, Windforce etc etc.

The whole 7xx series is pretty meh though. The only real advantage is the extra Vram for people using higher res screens, or more than one monitor. Prices are bound to be stupidly high for the performance, offering no real value over the 6xx series.

Dunno man. Up until now that cooler has been reserved for cards costing £800+

It will be nice to see it make a debut on affordable cards :)

If it aint broke?

The titan coolers are already quiet*

New cooler would just mean more price inflation.

If NVIDIA bring that cooler further down the range instead of having it just for the GTX 690 and Titan then I'm all for a reference design.

That said rebadging a 680 as a 770 is a bit of a cheap shot at consumers considering the prices. Good cards they may well be and unless the 8970 is a monster the AMD offering isn't going to be close but I'd like to see more competitive pricing (i.e. cheaper) coming to the fore. Need a new GPU soon but who knows, prices might fall on their backside again.

Simply rebadging 6xx series cards isn't exactly a move that's going to get everyone on their feet but it should mean that, as consumers, we benefit from the increased range of nvidia products.

You would expect the release of the 7xx cards to prompt a drop in price for the 6xx series so we can get what is essentially the same card for less money just because Nvidia have re-released the same GPU's with different names. It's just going to mean that the 6xx series will drop in price and since they're are the same cards that can only be good.

Never going to do it, but I'm curious... Will this mean you can SLI a 770 and a 680..? And 670 + 760ti..?

well you could flash the bios like they let you do with the 9800GTX to 250GTX which when it happened was the 1st time nvidia actually allowed it..

I flashed a 8800gt with a 9800gt bios so it could sli with another 9800gt back in my younger days.. Exactly the same cards though just different stickers and hardware id..

There's a hack app out there that basically allows you to SLI any Nvidia cards together.

It doesn't work very well though
