Nvidia Questions

Nvidia Related

So since there's a Titan Questions thread, I thought I'd make a thread regarding questions, thoughts, grunges and so on regarding Nvidia...

Not sure it's really Nvidia, but it's more related to their naming schemes... I've seen on the 750, 780 and now maybe the 980, what does the "Ti" really mean?... anyone that knows?...

On another note, to get this thread going a bit, I'll reply to King of Old School's post in this thread, as it's more suited to this thread rather than Titan Questions thread. Hope you don't mind King.

IMO, If you look at it, Look at the times when AMD has fucked up when it comes to things people will bitch & moan for months or even years, now with Nvidia look at the screw up with GTX970 people only bitched & moan it was just weeks, only people tend to forgive Nvidia quicker than they do AMD so you could look at it as.

Nvidia = Apple
AMD = Microsoft

Haha, you make me laugh dude! :lol:

Although it is true, now that I think about it... it's a bit odd that people only had a grunge over the 970 fiasco for so short period of time, really. That including myself :huh:...

It's a bit odd to say the least...

IMO, I think half the time that some people (fan boys/girls) that want AMD to die if that happens we all could be paying 2-3 times the amount for Cards/CPU's

Yes sure their are Fan boys/girls on both sides

Absolutely, last few years I just keep seeing and hearing that Nvidia is mostly taking over... I mean, all new monitors, systems etc are all "Powered by Nvidia Geforce GTX".
I do myself considering Nvidia to be really good, I did really like the 980 Strix I must say... but to vouch for AMD a bit here as well, I've had my 6950 since early 2012 and it still going strong. So I can't really fault AMD on that side as well.

But it is like you say though... IF AMD would die, then we would have some VERY heavy price tags on our asses for GPUs, hell... they can charge whatever they want to, as they will then own the entire market, basically.
As then all we can do is just sit back and give them our wallets :p

Nvidia do superior reference coolers. That must be said. Everytime I see mine, I forgive it for the coil whining and lack of vram.

My understanding is that it's the atomic symbol for Titanium, and a throwback to their very early 00's graphics cards - though I could be wrong!

If that's what you're asking?

Also, time for a legit question.

Would you say two 780Tis are enough for 1440p? I've got a great deal on a second one and as much as i hate nvidia, I do love a bargain..

Well I run two 780's, a single 780Ti and a single 290X all with 1440p monitors. The pair of 780's keep everything well above 60fps, generally in the 80-110 area very close to maxed out. Ti's would be a little bit better and definitely moar than enough power for 1440p. Someone is going to mention vram i'm sure, so I will say that up until GTA V 3GB has never presented a problem for me at all but now i'm left with just a couple of settings I can't turn on. The fps isn't mad high either so I probably wouldn't push it much more anyway.

You will definitely notice it's better than a single card and all games will run amazeballs but in some more recent cases you may just have to consider memory usage before raging all the settings.

Well my 780 reference are both fine for 1440p so you should have a breeze with the Ti.

And yes Ti seems to refer to Titanium. I think the first was the 560 based on some old news

"Nvidia Introduces New GeForce GTX 560 Titanium Limited Edition with Enhanced GPU".

But raging the settings is my jaaaaaaaaaaaaam. cheers for the response. I want to run everything on high/very high at 1440p (especially GTA, it'd be nice to replicate my settings on 1440p) with decent fps. Nothing looks better (air wise) than two reference Nvidia cards imo.

-edit- this is my plan

Titan X Prices

Has anyone noticed the insane variation between UK prices for different brands of the Titan X?

Scan has it listed for the Asus (thats the one I'm after) as £946.94
Ebuyer £920.39
Jet Computer Products has it as £843.75

They are all essentially the same card aren't they as I believe there could be no change to the reference coolers with the Titan series. Why do these prices fluctuate by this much?

EDIT: Whoops, meant to post this as it's own thread, my bad.
