I know this may seem like a very noob question to most of you, infact probobly all of you. . .

But, on ATX motherboards are the PCI/PCI-E cards mounted upside down?

and if you had a single slot card (8800GT) could you still use the slot above/below it, or would it be inacessable

The 8800GT allows vacant slots to be used as required.

Not completely sure what u mean about upside down.

Do u mean in the sense that in the old AGP slot days, u would have the gfx slot at the top and all pci slots below. - whereas these days that design is completely out the window ?

Well, the PCB of the graphics card will be facing upwards, with the cooler facing towards the bottom of the case.

You should be able to use the other slots if you have a single slot 8800GT.

This also depends on the form factor used. ATX is what I explained above.

BTX is the opposite. Lian Li cases use BTX and some other Case Manufactureres.

Exactly what I was going to say on reading this.. Another is the Antec 900 using BTX

I was asking becaues i have a dell, :( yes i know how theyre bad for OCing and what have you but i had a tight budget at the time, and they use BTX but in all the pic's i found the gfx cards where upside down (to me anyway):p
