No signal from graphics card to monitor

About a month ago I built a new PC (Will list specs below) and it has been running perfectly up until today.

I was just browsing through YouTube when my computer shut itself down and then tried to restart itself but nothing was displaying on my monitor apart from it telling me it was receiving no signal.

I removed my graphics card and put the HDMI cable into the motherboard instead and then my monitor was displaying again.?

Anyone got any idea of what could be wrong?
I am assuming the HDMI output on my card has just gone to heaven but any input on this would be greatly appreciated

SPECS:
Motherboard - ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO
CPU - i5-4690k @3.5ghz running at stock
RAM - 8gb (2x4gb) Corsair vengeance pro
Graphics - MSI TWIN FROZR GTX 780 OC edition
CPU cooler - Corsair H80i
PSU - Corsair RM850

Although i am unable to diagnose your specific problem i would advise you to RMA the card if you are facing problems only a month after purchase.

I recommend taking the card back to the retailer shop they will test it properly and tell you if you can claim RMA

They will do the same shit he can do at home. Just easier to determine for himself and claim an RMA faster if he ends up doing so.

OP which drivers are you using? Did you try updating them? Did you install them correctly?

Sorry for the late response on this one guys just after posting got called away by the boss to go on a course to Ireland

I just tried the other outputs and DVI was exactly the same as using HDMI. I get no display on monitor

I am using the latest nvidia drivers (340.52) and yes they are installed correctly

Seems like windows is setting a resolution that your monitor doesn't support. Sure you didnt do some keyboard shortcut to change the screen like windows key + P.

Do you have a TV that supports DVI or HDMI that you can plug into and test?

Does the monitor show the post screen when you turn it on and then go blank once windows loads? If so perhaps try to boot into safe mode.

I had this problem some years ago and it was because for some stupid reason I had managed to set a resolution in my nvidia config that wasnt supported by my monitor. It would allow me to boot into the bios etc but as soon as windows loaded it set the unsupported resolution and went blank.

However the difference here is that my monitor shows "mode not supported" on my screen rather than "no signal" but who knows. maybe the issues are linked?

no display at all. even at boot (no post display)
would imply that the syetem never sends a signal. although i know my pc boots to windows faster than my monitor decides it has a picture to display.

my 1st course of action would be to boot to the bios using the onboard gpu.
then set init 1st display to peg. (pci-e)

tell it to not do a Quick post. (or tell it to halt on all errors.."including no keyboard")

save and exit and power off.
connect the monitor back to discreet gpu and dissconnect my keyboard "if i told it to halt on all errors"

power on.

The system should then either still be counting ram when your monitor decides it has a picture to display, or it will sit at the end of the post screen untill you connect the kb and hit f1 "depending what you told the bios to do"

if you do get a display.
connect they keyboard back up and then try to get to the f8 windows option screen to select safe mode.
from there you can unistall your display drivers then restart.

with no display drivers installed you should (if you were able to see post screen) be able to see windows.
reinstall your display drivers, and use your monitors reccomended resolution.

if after you did that and you get no signal again when you get inn to windows. it could be an issue with the card hardware. some broken cards will work fine without any acceleration enabled. but will fail to display or have huge artifacts/freezing/crashing issues when the drivers are installed.

If no sings recieved by your monitor on each output then RMA the card.
Maybe the output controller of it died. If you have some pikes on 240V plug it can kill it through your monitor. One of my friend's GPU died like that after a storm. His PC was connected to a surge protected plug, but his monitor just pluged into the wall, and the connection via DVI-D connector killed the gpu it self. The monitor has no any problem......:S
