New to folding at home

EDIT: Oh, and get a PASSKEY and add it to the Tracker. Then enable Advmethods on the SMP/CPU Client for the first 10 work units. Once they've completed successfully and on time, disable Advmethods and enabled BigAdv instead.

Kup a small question, maybe you know something I don't..

but why would he select the -advmethods flag?

advmethods fold faster than bigadv units so you can get to 10 much quicker and start getting the bonus on bigadv units.

Ah yes that's true, but there is no speed difference with the regular -smp flag. The only thing -advmethods gives you is WU's which aren't completely tested, see it as a public beta trial.

Now I've got no clue on how the tracker works, as I manually configure all of my clients. So if there only is a choice between -advmethods and -bigadv then I get it, otherwise I don't really see the point, as the regular -smp should be just as fast.

I always thought the -advmethods flag added the bonus points based WU to the SMP client, whilst the internal configuration setting 'advmethods' allows beta/untested WU?

I don't think this is the case because when testing Goliath I ran only the flags -smp -verbosity 9 and still received the bonus points.

-verbosity 9, what does that do?

It just create a more verbose log file. You can set the verbosity to levels 1-9, 9 being the highest. I don't really use it, but it can be useful in troubleshooting if you are ever having problems with the client.

OK my .02$.............. generally -advmethods does nothing but get you WU's that the public do not get and this applies to SMP and GPU. If there are WU's in -advmethods that you want to receive then use that tag, you are generally better off to not use that tag.

I always use -verbosity 9 in my manually configured console clients, no GPU Tracker for me

Iv'e done 7 WU on my rig and 4 on the PS3. I see that you need to do atleast 10 WU to get bonus points. Are the WU from the ps3 included or do i still need to do 3 more on my pc?

No,

only the WUs which have a QRB are counted towards getting the bonus.

so unfortunatly you will still have to do 3 on your rig.

You will automatically star getting them and instead of 500 odd points per WU you will start getting a few thousand points per WU

its showing as 11 WU, 10 completed successfully and 1 failed. I think it will happen when i get the next one done

Just a reminder.....you must also maintain a 80% successful return ratio to qualify for/maintain bonus point status

I have now done a total of 11 successful WU and 1 failed. Sucessful Units is 91.7% which is more than 80% but my points for the current project are only 585.

I don't think im getting bonus points, its still the same as before. What do i do?
