New Screen Soon but How Many?

Awesome thanks for that. Solves a lot that was floating around in my head and needed answering.

Now to actually find 2 screens that I am happy with. Joy!

So got my 2 new screens today.

BenQ G2220HD Widescreen Monitor 21.5 inch (1080i/1080p) TFT LCD 1000:1 300cd/m2 1920 x 1080 5ms D-sub/DVI-D (Glossy Black)

Some may disagree but they are quite good for their price.. £98 each

Anyway...

Any tips on how to run the screens in crysis? I can run only one. Not what I was expecting.

I have the desktop spread over both screens and even the task bar spread over. Looks good.

But I want to test the gaming side of things.

Any help would be very appreciated.

btw I am running vista x64

Thanks

You'd need to buy a 5870 or 5850 and run whatever the split screen option is (brand new on the 5xxx series). There is currently no way to run a game across two screens on nvidia setups. Also if you want to do that, you would need some serious graphical horsepower.

Generally I keep one screen on email or internet and the other on games.

Oh ok.. so nothing has advanced yet still on gaming on dual screens. Thats kinda shocking! Seems Nvidia need to pull their socks up!?!

tbh dual screen gaming is horid cos of the join in the middle. For split screen gaming you need 3 imho.

2 screens is generally used for 1 gaming and the spare screen for msn ect. The only way to game on two screens is have the desktop streched across the 2 monitors (so the pc see's one big monitor NOT 2 seperate screens)

How did you stretch the taskbar across two screens? Using windows 7 pro 64 bit and would like to do this, instead of having it mounted in the middle on the side of one screen to put it more in the middle

if you stretch the task bar its ONE screen, so when you open a movie full screen rather than it going full on 1 monitor it opens on both, get what I mean?

I used to have two screens, but found it was just more hassle than it was worth (for me) trying to divide my work between the two, plus gaming is no good across two (need 3) and it's more energy to run. With the new Windows 7 and snap-to window manipulation, I find one 22" screen is more than good enough for my needs. Thinking about upgrading my Samsung SM226BW to a Dell 2209WA though, just struggling to justify another £100 on top of what I'll get second hand for the same size monitor (even though TN<IPS).

I use 2x T240 Samsungs and use Ultramon to take care of the dual screens, Ive got a task bar on each side BUT it is 2 seperate monitors, so I can have 2 full screen apps open if needs be. Normally its OC3D on one and msn/email on the other though tbh.

Really couldnt live without dual screens now, having a single 22" in the shed does my nut in :p
