8350 and the one in my sig

for future reference please do not refer to your sig for specs as that will change over time.

this thread may help some people in the future and a changed sig will confuse future readers.

I recommend the msi 990 GD-65 motherboard that Tripp mentioned before, it is a great price to performance motherboard that will allow you to overclock your future fx 8350.

I recently build my housemate a rig using this motherboard and he is very pleased so far.

The new Asrock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional caught my eye yesterday very shiny new features including Mini PCI 2.2 slots..... mmm £150 ish

if you plan on overclocking the 8350 do yourself (and us) a favor please and done skimp on a mobo. Those 8 core fx's need some serious and stable power to oc on.

I agree with those recommending the 990FX boards. They're a bit more expensive, but they're worth it particularly if you're going overclocking, given that they typically have more beefy heatsinks on the VRMs and more power phases than the lower end AM3+ motherboards.

For instance, I've a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 and I managed to get 5.2GHz out of my FX-8350 on it.

It's always best to stretch a bit for your motherboard and not to skimp on it; I've learned this the hard way, I've a cheap POS MSi A55 FM2 motherboard and it makes me want to pull my hair out at times, I'm only sorry I didn't get a higher end A85X one. Whereas my Gigabyte 790FX board which was one of the top end AM3 boards back in 2009 and as a result wasn't exactly cheap is still alive, kicking and rock-solid stable running Debian Linux to this day.

I would recommend an Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo. Personally that was my choice for a build, especially if you want a stealthy base to add colors upon with other parts like RAM, GPU...
Motherboard has plenty of everything, did not saw major drawbacks, unless someone can state otherwise.

Hope it helps.
