New GPU - 770GTX Sli, Single 780GTX? Something else?

Oh sweet, great shout. Yep it certainly will be enough to run two, my AX860 copes easily with two 780 Classy's (which will probably pull about an extra 25watts a piece over reference cards) it takes a good 30 minutes of solid gaming before the fan spins up.

The EVGA coolers are great for a single card setup but the reference blowers seem to deal with SLI better as they dump less heat into the case. I'm sure it will seem like a massive upgrade over half a 295GTX

Thank you, and I should hope so after 5 years of letting the good old (back then) top card run it for me. I started playing an MMO few days ago ("Dungeons and Dragons Neverwinter"), and in major cities my FPS would drop to 20-30.

I realize major cities in MMOs in general tend to cause FPS drops, and I dont expect the GPU to be the entire reason for it, but hopefully this'll make it a more enjoyable experience. :p

I would get a GTX780 (probably a Lightning) and a new PSU (RM650) which would make a solid setup for 1080p with none of the inherent problems of SLI. Upgrade to a 780Ti if you feel its really necessary but I doubt it would be. Get a bigger PSU if you plan to increase your gaming resolution to 1440p or triple 1080's in the future as that would probably need another card.

If people are into overclocking the EVGA Classified 780 is much better.

MSI have some very unhappy customers because of their 780 Lightning, they committed a crime when they equipped the lightning with crap memory instead of using quality Samsung VRAM.

OP if you want to get a GTX 780 go for a reference one if you are thinking about SLI in the future. Reference cards dump heat out of the back of the case not into it like non ref cooled 780s.

I have already ordered a 780.
Here is a link. which is already overclocked from the manufacturer (im not sure how much compared to standard numbers though)

Im not sure if this is reference or non-reference, but they do highlight their cooler alot on this specific model, so it cant be all bad I guess.

It is a non reference GTX 780 but a good one.

If you ever go SLI with it though try and make sure there is a gap between the cards and the case has good air flow.

EVGA cards come with a very good warranty and they also don't mind if you fit waterblocks to the card which could also be an option if you go SLI.
