Hi Chaps,

recently finished my last build which i posted in the rig gallery so thought id start a build log for my next one.

You know how it is, you've just spent a ridiculous amount of money you don't really have to spend on a rig, finally finish it and think you know what, lets do it again.

Thought id post up some pics now since my first few bits and bobs have arrived and ill be delving into it this weekend so ill be updating laters.

anyway assuming my pictures actually worked. The plan with this is to build a slightly more compact but powerful machine that i can haul to lans and whatnot. Saw toms review of the FT03 a while back but didnt really fall in love with it until i spotted the silver version and literally bought it on the spot. Anyway updates later.

Awesome - really wanna build in this chassis myself. Looking forward to seeing what cooling solution & gpu you're gonna put in there.

Im really loving the idea of all the rotated motherboard cases, would love to get one myself but they're mighty expensive!

where did you get the gene-z?

Got the motherboard, case and chip all from scan. I might as well list the full specs since the rest will be arriving shortly.

i5 2500k

Maximus 4 gene z

8gb corsair vengeance (waiting for the racing red to be available)

120gb vertex 3

600w silverstone strider modular psu

graphics im actually undecided on at the moment. Either ill be using my 560ti out of my cm build or ill probably look at maybe a 580 for a bit more oomph.

Cant wait to start building with this case. Ive never owned a silverstone before but i have to say the quality is just insane.

Updates inc a lil later, gonna install motherboard into the case etc.

Nothing exciting but have now installed the motherboard which was fairly fiddly with all the fan mounts etc needing to be moved. Not gonna be using the stock cooler which ive installed for the moment since I havent really decided what will be going in.

The pictures might be a little dark but thats simply because light hurts right now after waking up this morning with bloody knuckles a twisted ankle, a dodgy shoulder and absolutely no idea how i got home.

Anywho rest of the stuff should be arriving tomorrow and I can crack on with final build pics and benchmarks/overclocks with my tasty new sandy bridge build.

Yikes, feeling claustrophobic looking at this case.

That CPU area is tight! I wonder whether that case fan could fit safely on the other side of the mounting plate or whether it would clash with the case. What a nightmare finding a tower CPU cooler, very tight for push-pull, even just as close for pull.

Should I say "Get new socks."?

If it was me I'd take out that fan bracket above the slot loading odd & see if I could get a Noctua in there. Don't forget there's a 120mm exhaust, so without that bracket you should be able to get most tower coolers in there.
