guys my friend has just bought a new 6600gt gainward 256mb. he usually plays call of duty 2 and when he plays the game with direct x7 the game experiences loss. the strange thing is that when he uses direct x9 the game works normally without any loss. i dont have any idea why this happens do you think its from the gfx card? personally mine doesnt do these strange things. 10x guys

Why is he using DX 7 on a card that supports DX 9.0c fully??

My thoughts exactly, all 6 and 7 series cards support DX9 fully.... Infact i didnt think most modern games even worked with older DX releases

he is using direct x7 because he plays it multiplayer and wants a great fps such as 170fps cause it makes game performance better. yes cod2 supports dx7 also. what i dont know is howcome it has loss on dx7 and workd perfect on dx9. i have a 6600gt 256mb, not gainward but another brand and it works perfect on both

I doubt its down to the card, more likely the game not being designed to use DX 7. tell him that the human eye cant detect over about 30, and the hardcore gamers eye, about 60 ;) and that he should switch to DX 9 if it bothers him. lower fps is better for gaming than laggy gameplay. and if his frames drop too low, get a new card

the problem is he has just bought the card. he bought it to have very high fps about 170 and stuff so as to fire his pistols and weapons at a fast rate but the game has loss. i have the same type of gfx card and i play the same game with his same settings, i get 180-230 fps without loss on dx7

25-30 is the average person. People who spend their days siting infront of monitors can often notice alittle higher. I notice if mine drops below 50 in CSS, which an't always a good thing.

But ~100 is about perfect imo. And dx9 means itll look better too.
