Need memory advice

Hey,

Not often I ask about components, but I need to put a build together so far consisting of:

ASRock Ext 7 Gen 3, I7-2600k

.. and memory has got me looking at the listings with my butt in my hand.

I wanted - DDR3, 1866/2133, and timings of 9-9-9-24, which I kind of found but no one has sold them for months and months. Something like CMX8GX3M2AxxxxC9. You can get on ebay, but I don't go there. I found the xxxxxxx2BxxxxC9, but they seemed to have dropped the timings.

So the search went on, and I did find CMX8GX3M2A2000C9, which is 2000 @ something like 9-10-9-27 ish - but seems to be running out of stock everywhere (well my preferred suppliers).

Why this memory ? Well I need to have the profile height as short as I can for extreme air cooling reasons. The stuff with any kind of fins isn't going to work.

Ideally I'd like 4x1g, but you can't get it and great speeds. 4x2g would be next best, 9-9-9-24 would be outstanding (not holding my breathe tho), 1866/2000/2133++ spuds. I'm kind of settling that I'll have to get 2x4g tho.

Any advances on CMX8GX3M2A2000C9 ?? (Corsair MX3, 2000, 9-10-9-27) ?

Many thanks.

I've actually just found: CMX4GX3M2B2000C9, which is a 2x2g kit - which I can buy 2 of.

I know the 4x stick versus 2x stick argument, however I've come to think it's less important these days and if I get any real issues during setup I can return them.

4 sticks gives me the advantage of moving this to a quad based setup once the work is done.
