Need Help on Deciding how to Watercool!

That is the first time I have heard that.

Their OEM is Seasonic, same company that makes the Corsair 750s etc, and well, Im stuck with two of them now. lol

If they have issues I will switch them out. But they are pretty. haha
I'm with Tom. XFX PSUs are utter trash. I recently built a rig for my Mum and managed to break of 2sata power connector lock bits. And that was with 0 strain on the plastic.

^I broke of the plastic only bit of the connector. Thus it wouldn't stay in the SSD or HDD.

I'd recommend a Corsair PSU. They are top notch quality.

Haha I've done that too I'm not proud to say haha. It was a right pain in the ass to try and fix.

And kidbest, the funny thing is that if you saw me you would never guess I was a gamer that enjoyed messing with PC's hahah!

And also dragon, the stuff should be here by the end of next week, I've been looking at watercooling for a while now and I thought it was time to begin the upgrades!

Thank you everybody for the help and the recommendations you made!

Yep, thanks Arthur, thats what I'm going to do. I've been saving up a while and I've got about £300 to spend and I didnt want to make the wrong choice. By next year I'm looking to try and jump over to Intel. Have you got any recommendations for cpu and board for anything under £400. I'm not trying to scimp out on products for price but under £400 is about where I want to be.
I'm probs going to end up selling my CPU and MB and that should get me about £150 if I'm really lucky.

Look at the scan.co.uk "Today Only" page for mobo and CPU, an i5 3570k and a good z77 board can come in under £250 (i.e Msi z77A G43 and similar )and the i7's can be under £400, always some sort of combination about. Haswell is due out next year though but hopefully Intel's pricing structure won't dramatically change.

Thanks Spiderz, but I'm not going to be buying an Intel and new mobo for a while now but thanks for telling me about that offer. I'll be doning a build log of my progress on my build when the products arrive!

I had it stable at 4.5 on 1.4v in BIOS but temps got high, idle about 40C and load in the mid 70's. If I tried to keep it on load it would just shutdown due to high temps!

Was that at 1.40 volts or was it higher? I found out that I could keep my same overclocks with less voltage then I was putting into it. It's just a PITA to figure out how much voltage it likes.

If you follow the link I posted you will see that XFX & Corsair(SOME OF THEM) are made by the same company, Seasonic.

You're talking about a connector issue and not exactly a PSU problem. It would be hard to call one junk and the other top notch when they are made by the same company.

Hmm yeah.. I mean I have a relatively cheap noname psu and the only issue I had was... short cables but good connector quality ( forced them a little bit ).

I actually just had a look in my BIOS at my voltages etc. and I have found that I am only running at 1.3375 on a 4.4GHz overclock (turbo mode off). Under load it's running at about 85C which is just below where my chip shuts it's self down! With the H100 I am going to aim for a 5GHz and if I reach that on reasonable temps, I will see if I can push it to its max and get a 5.2GHz overclock out of it (just so that I can say that I have a 1GHz overclock).

And as for the PSU, I am only really looking for a PSU that has headroom for overclocking and headroom for higher grade hardware for the future. BTW if I haven't already said I am overclocking my GPU also. I have a stable overclock on my 7870 but the stock heatsink is so loud that I can hear it from outside my room and about 3m down the hall!

As always thanks for all the advice!
