Need Advice on Cooling

Heya Everyone..

With regards to my intro post (http://forum.overclock3d.net/index.php?/topic/35803-heya/) I need some new cooling,

Right now I'm running some crap Corsair water cooling kit, and I neglected to maintain it, so over the past months my CPU temp has been on the increase and now my Q9450 at 2.66@1v vcore sits cookin' @55c. Not good!

I've had enough of maintaining water cooling systems over the past years, and really would want to go back to air, But with so many new and decent coolers on the market, and not wanting to spend an awful lot (£40 to £50) I'm a bit overwhelmed. I have had my eye on the Coolermaster v8 though..

So, What's the best cooler I can get for the 40 to 50 price range?

Regards

Callum

Save a little extra and get a Noctua NH-D14, well worth the money and apart from water cooling no other cooler will get you lower temps, well maybe the Silver Arrow. Check out the Alpenfohn K2 as well.

Thanks, I've seen the NH-D14 and must say, It is a monster, However, Looking at it, it seems to overhang the DIMM slots. So it may not be suitable as the ram I maybe looking to upgrade could be quite tall.

What ram do you have atm fella?

Heya,

Running the Corsair DHX Series DDR3, But looking to possibly upgrade to the G.Skill RipJaw, since that's 2x 4GB, If the first two slots are blocked due to the cooler then it should not really be a problem to populate the second set of DIMMs

I seem to recall that the all in one water coolers were designed to not be maintained all you might have to do i clean dust from the rad as if its all clogged up with dust then no air will go through it other than that it must be faulty.

Ah, Forgive me, I've heard those units are not bad..

The Corsair unit i've got is the Nautalis 500 external thing..

May as well just remove the Air Cooling section from the OC3D forum and just put the words "Noctua NH-D14" in its place!
