you could go watercooled, small cooler like a scythe big shuriken or something with long heatpipes like a noctua NH-C12P if i clears your case.

just go to the website u use for parts and take whatever cools the best and makes least noice, than look at the size and see if it would fit.

EDIT: forget the noctua's or anything big, your psu is in the way

Actually pretty much every cooler made that stands upright will fit that mobo. That NB heatsink isnt that big.

not sure what case you have, but also remember to check that the cooler you get is not too tall! I got a noctua nh-d14 which fitted over the NB heatsink and ram on my mobo, and fitted below the PSU - only problem was i couldn't get the side panel of the case on cos the cooler stuck out to far!

seems pretty simple to me..An Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro for around £16 will handle an E6300 no problem, hell I've got my Xeon E3120 (basically an E8500) at 3.6ghz on stock volts passively cooled with a crappy old Asetek Vapochill Micro (under a fiver at scan but the fans are crap)..

Passive? There must be other fans moving air around though and cooling that heatsink, right? You might not have a fan directly attached to the heatsink, but it surely can't be completely passive.

naw i do have an exhaust fan in the case and the psu is right above it so it's not completely passive but doesn't have a fan fitted to it. CPU loads in the mid 60's which isn't too bad all things considered..
