My MSI z77 GD65 **56k Warning**

I got the same board as you as I also won the £25 cashback voucher from MSI

I am still waiting for the Ivy Bridge launch tomorrow to get my CPU. I have assembled everything haven't turn it on yet. Finger-crossed I will not have the same issue.

Anyway my RAM is Corsair Memory 8GB Vengeance Jet Black Low Profile 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz.

Mine are the 1.5v versions, they shouldn't cause any probs but you never know. Might be the ram slots though, if it is then i'm stuffed. Because of my idiot friend bending the pins on the socket I can't RMA, even though I can bend the pins back you can still tell that they have been bent. If I can't get it working i'll just have to buy another one and see if I can get any money for this one selling it as spares and repairs on Ebay.

I was so mad yesterday when my mate bent the pins on the socket, I smashed his phone afterwards and I don't think i'll be seeing him for a while....

yeah mines are the 1.5v too so we have almost the same specs except for my crappy gpu

wow sucks that he did that shit =\ and lol that'll teach him xD Personally he could've payed for a new board for me if a friend of mine did that haha xD Ah well I hope you can get another one =\ gutted that your baord is dead

makes me sad that you guys fought over 150$ his apology woulda been enough for me, but then you have every right to be mad after but a friend is worth way more then a item

Fantastic looking board

Shame your friend did that ruining the chance of RMA'ing

But as you said it may just be the RAM that's faulty and hopefully you can get the board working with some new RAM.

I hope you get the issue sorted out mate. I have a question though. Is the PCB black or is it a mix of copper and black? I've seen some pictures and they all seem to vary. Maybe the retail models are black and the review boards are of the latter. Cheers mate.

I chose it because from what I have read it is one of the best z77 boards, it's the most power efficient, the world overclock record for IB was done using it, so it's definitely good for overclocking and the on board sound is really good. Also because I won a £25 cashback voucher from MSI.

There isn't that much difference between motherboards though to be honest just some have more/better features than others, go for the one with the features you want/like the most and like the look of most.

In other news, thanks to my retarded idiot of a friend, I can no longer RMA my board because he decided to poke at the CPU socket and bent a load of the pins

I think I can bend them back in place but I still wont be able to RMA it, so now it looks like I have a £150 paperweight. There might be some hope though, I did some googleing on the error code I was getting and it is related to RAM, so it might just not like my Mushkin blackline, unlikely, but there is a small chance that it might work with some other RAM. *keeps fingers crossed*

I can't remember but I think some companies will allow you to send the board back with bent pins and have them look at it before they do anything, and they will give you a price of how much it would cost to fix.

I had a Asus board that my dad did a similar thing, and I got in touch with Asus and they said I could send it to them and they would look at it and provide a price for how much it would be to fix it, there was in the end about 10 bent pins and they charged me about £40 to fix it paid it and the board worked fine for another 8 months before it died.

Might be worth getting in touch with MSI and seeing what they would charge etc and then get your friend to pay for the repair.

should of sold his phone dude, paid for a new mobo.

sad tho, i have the gd55 and it is a good board, i imagine the 65 is only better :|

I think i've finally decided wich MB to get! I've given up on the black+orange theme for now, and this board looks REALLY good IMHO.

Yep, after about a total of 5 hours (not all at once) with a sowing needle and a magnifying glass, I have managed to bend the pins back in place, as good as I can get them anyway.

I'm still getting the the boot loop and an error code 55, I am going to buy a cheap stick of RAM next week to try and see if I can get it working with that, if not, unfortunately there is nothing else I can do. Either way i'll know by this time next week, just got to keep my fingers crossed I can get it working, if not, i'll just have to buy another board and see how much I can get for this one on Ebay selling it for spares and repairs.
