My little brothers PC

So my little brother finally cleared up his mind. He doesnt want to play on his laptop anymore which he bought 1 year ago. He now wants a real gaming PC that can play all the latest games. This means I've got to help him pick the parts and build the system :D

He will buy my 6 months old Define XL for cheap and he gets my Scythe Mugen Rev 2 for free. Im a nice brother am I not?

His budget is about 1000 euros and I've selected the following components:

Im still thinking about changing the GPU to a Saphire one but he liked this one. The Saphire is also more expencive and the reviews on the Club3D card seem to be pretty good.

Also the HDD/SSD problem, I dont want to sacrifice performance just to have an SSD. Ive been thinking about getting him a 500GB WD green and a 64GB SSD but that adds 30-40 euros. You wont miss an SSD if you never had one. And the only difference I notice is the boot time. So maybe stick with the 1TB Black and take a piss while its booting :P

So what do you guys think? Any changes you guys would make? Recommendations are very welcome.

If he's playing on 1 screen I'd drop to a 670 since it will still max out frame rates of pretty much any game around at 1080p.

They should allow a 128gb Crucial M4...

Every PC nowadays should have an SSD IMO.
I definitely think you'd miss an SSD. Boot times, game load times, program load times...
Best upgrade you can possibly make at the moment.

He indeed plays on 1 screen and I agree, but when I look at the cheapest non reference cooled cards and compare them. The cheapest 670 is a Gigabyte Windforce sold for 361 excl shipping and the 7970 is the Gigabyte OC (1ghz clock) sold for 362 so they are practically the same price.

When not OCed it seems that they are both equal but when OCed the 7970 is better.

I agree with you that a modern PC needs an SSD. But in this case there doesnt really seem to be a way to save money on the GPU. Unless you drop down to a 7950 or 660ti but I didnt plan on doing that.

Its always possible to ad in an SSD later on although not ideal. Oh wait, just thought of another idea. He can have my case, purchase an SSD and a 500GB Green instead of the Black and then pay the case later when he has enough.

Choices... Its hard :P

I hope the tax is included with those prices? Otherwise, it looks solid to me assuming he goes for the deferred payment option on the case.

Taxes are indeed included, cant get my hands on non taxed stuff :P

Yea you guys have convinced me and him lol :P

Hes getting a 500gb Green and an SSD, Crucial m4 or a Samsung 830, not sure yet which one.

Now its just a weeks waiting till payday. :D

Thanks guys!
