My CCFL inverter

Just went pop... i thought water had leaked onto my mobo or something, smoke came out the rear of the case and everything lol. my room stinks.. haha.. o well.. theres me needing to spend another £6. Dno what was wrong with it just went pop.. lol.. ah well.. Not worth and RMA was only £4.50 from specialtech lol.

Lol I've had a few die on me before,but none as spectacular as that. Its a shame that it didnt happen sooner - I just ditched about 3 inverters during a tidy-up operation

lol. i think one of the cathode tubes has gone aswell..

Yea theyre called inverters as they turn the DC to AC. I've had a few go, and some of those melted cathode tubes aswell

'cold cathode' is hardly correct lol these things get pretty darn hot..

Cold Cathode Flourecent Lights ...i believe

the black box is the inverter, altho my last few have been light blue lol

ahhh.......i've always known them as Cathode lights......never knew it had another name...CCFL....mmmmm

so....errrrr........this inverter thing (i have a set of CCFL not installed, yet) can bring death to other parts in the comp if it pop? yes? or its a luck thing?

an inverter going pop is very unlikely to damage your components i wouldn't worrie

It didnt damage any of my components, i havent had time to test the molex it was connected to yet. im guessing its all fine though. hopefully, i need that molex lol..
